We would like to offer our condolences to Lucille and family, as we are unable to attend the "Celebration of Life" on Saturday. We first met Doug when he was the Minister of the newly-forming United Church in Millwoods in 1975. Services were held in Grace Martin School and numbers were few. Lucille and family,

We were sorry to hear of Rev Doug Berry's passing. He performed our marraige ceremony in the evening on Feb 10, 1962 in Innisfail, Alberta. It was a private cermony with only the bride, groom and 2 attendants in which Lucille played the organ.
He also baptised our two oldest children before we moved to Edmonton in 1966.

When Jean, Al, and I were kids Doug visited us from time to time, and we always enjoyed and admired his rakish, man-of-the-world air and his sharp navy hat. We thought he was cool, and the most un-ministerish minister we’d ever met. We also learned a lot about jazz from him. We’re glad he had a long life; ninety-two--that’s pretty good. Hope we have some of the same genes.

Dear John and Joanne and your families,
I'm sorry to hear that Uncle Doug passed away, but I'm sure that neither he nor you were sorry that his suffering had ended. I'll always think of him as a cheerful, kind soul who knew he could dance. And dance he did.
