Not sure what to say?

So sad, yet grateful to receive the phone call from Meredith Mills telling us of Doug's death. Doug, Linda, and their family became close family as we brought our family to Carle in 1976. Over the years we travelled together, cared for one another, and enjoyed all the benefits that close friends bring to one another's lives. After Linda passed we were happy to meet Cisty and her family both at Carle events as well as share a drink in the Northwoods when we would dine at Coon's resort where...

Hi David, it's Robin Strater. I wanted to reach out to let you know I'm thinking of you and your family. My heart is with you all. In addition to the wonderful contributions Doug made to his communities, Doug was instrumental in helping me begin my career in banking. He personally hired me and introduced me to Monteith and commercial lending/credit analysis. Throughout the years, Doug continued to check in with me. He was always caring and encouraging. He's at the top of the list for helping...

Doug was a wonderful employer. One day on entering the bank he saw a few of us in our department talking and laughing, clearly not working. He got to his office and called our supervisor and demanded we document every minuet of our day on paper...We did and it took hours. And we learned a valuable lesson about time and what we had been entrusted to do as employees. Another very important memory my wife Sarah and I have is when we were looking for our first house and our realtor Gill...

To David, Rob, and Cisty, What a fabulous tribute to a great, generous and talented man in so many ways! We remember Doug always smiling and enjoyed our weekend together when you came to our home in Florida and all of the other times we spent together. Jerry certainly couldn't have picked a better roommate for your years together at U of I at the Beta House, and I was impressed on how you "brothers" stayed so close all these years. Go with God now dear friend. With all of your...

David, Rob, Cisty and the rest of your families, what a wonderful tribute to Doug in this posting. Knowing how much he loved sports and competing, I still learned some details I didn't recall having known about. He was one of a kind and I know will be greatly missed. Love, hugs and prayers to all of you.

I had the wonderful opportunity to get to know Doug through our occasional golf trips with my associates at Carle. He was a very friendly gentleman, but a fierce competitor on the course. I remember the big smiles he would give you after he sank yet another tough putt that you thought he would miss. He was an amazing addition to the Champaign community and he will be missed. My wife Nancy and I send the family our condolences for your great loss.

Judy and I were saddened to learn of the loss of Doug Mills served as a community leader, banker and was a personal friend. Judy, in particular, sends her condolences, but from both of us our sympathy goes forth to Doug's family and friends.

I was Doug´s personal trainer in Peoria for a few years, and enjoyed working with him a lot! Always early, he came in with a positive attitude, big smile and ready to workout. Doug shared with me how mutual good friends had introduced him and Cisty and he loved his life with her, commenting to me frequently about how beautiful she was. Doug was a generous, kind man and will be missed by everyone who knew him!

Rob .... It´s Jorie Sandburg here ..... reaching out to you and to David after my pops, Jeff, rang my cell last night to share that one of his best friends had passed. I was saddened to learn that it was Mr. Mills of whom he was speaking. Shirley Sandburg, my Grammy, and her partner in crime, Grandma Gene, aka, the "Galesburg Gals" , are most certainly taking good care of Doug, along with your mom ..... your dad is undoubtedly surrounded with lots of Illinois love as he leaves this...
