Esther Lucile Christenson

Christenson, Esther L. (nee Morley) Esther Lucile Morley was born November 16, 1916 to Artie (nee Eiker) and Frank Delmar Morley at the farm home in Adams County, Iowa, near Lenox, Iowa. She attended Grant #7 Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Lenox High School in 1935, and Creston Jr. College in 1938. Esther married Lyle J. Slater on July 30, 1938. She lived in Dubuque, Iowa until Lyle returned from World War II and they moved to Lake Geneva, WI in April 1946. Their two children, Andrew (in 1949) and Anita (in 1954) were born while they lived there. Lyle died December 14, 1958 and Esther married Lester Christenson July 17, 1964 and moved to Janesville, WI where she spent the rest of her years. Esther enjoyed her family and reading. She was a long time member of Cargill Methodist Church. She managed a small cheese shop for seven years and worked at Bishops Buffet for seven years before retiring. Esther and Les enjoyed several winters in Phoenix, Arizona before he died in 1996. Esther is survived by her children Andrew (Janet) Slater and Anita (Bill) Schultz; granddaughters Angela (Rob) Ferrell, Andrea Schultz and Alyssa Schultz; great-grandchildren Alexander and Delaney. She is also survived by step-children Donald (Barb) Christenson, Gerald (Gloria) Christenson and Peter Christenson; step-child-in-law Nancy Christenson; numerous step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren. Esther is preceded in death by her husbands; sisters Ruth and Hazel; brothers Harold and Harley; step-daughters Janet Christenson, Barbara Viney, Phyllis (Art) Rastall and Jo Anne Christenson; and step-sons Bruce Christenson and David Christenson. If so desired, memorials in Esther's name may be made to Agrace Hospice Care (3001 W. Memorial Dr., Janesville, WI 53548; 608-755-1871) who assisted greatly in her last days.
