Evan R. Soule', 81 years of age, passed from this world on April 21, 2006. He was born on October 9, 1924 in New Orleans where he was a lifelong resident until he moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas following Hurricane Katrina.

Son of the late George and Mary Brooks Soule' of New Orleans, he attended Tulane University and was a WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps with the "Hell's Angels" 303rd Bomb Group, 358 Bombardment Squadron, stationed at Molesworth, England. Operating as a tail gunner in a B-17 "Flying Fortress" aircraft, he completed 35 missions over wartime Europe.

Following honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps, he worked as Secretary-Treasurer at Soule' College in New Orleans which was founded by his great-grandfather, Col. George Soule’, in 1856 to became the oldest business college in the South. He worked in that position until the closing of Soule' College in 1984.

He will be missed by Joan Prickett Soule', his beloved wife of 57 years, his son Evan R. Soule', Jr. and wife Jennifer, and grandson Ian, all recently moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas from New Orleans, Louisiana. He will also be missed by his daughter, Roxanne Marcianti, her husband, Greg, and their daughter, Sienna Rose of Melbourne, Australia.

He will always be remembered for his loving kindness to his family and friends, his wonderful sense of humor, and his sincere and quiet generosity unto all he encountered along life's journey.

Evan truly lived a quality life in accord with those words from the bard of bards:

"To thine own-self be true, And it must follow as the night the day, Thou can'st not then be false to any man."

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at the Davis-Smith Funeral Home, 2205 Airport Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Not sure what to say?

Dear Evan....my very close and IMPORTANT Primary friend. I have just read many of these meaningful tributes to your father from so many on the occasion of the passing of your father and friend Evan Sr all those almost 20 years ago. What a great friend he most surely must have been to all of those who have expressed these heartfelt rememberances. And it took me all of this time , end of 2023. I would love to have known him and would love to have heard the 8th Air Force stories and all...

Dear Joan & Evan,

Dr Evan, I am your father's first cousin. My husband and I met you at lunch in New Orleans with your parents.I would like to be in touch with you. I am so sorry to learn of your father's death. Elizabeth Atkinson

Dear Evan,
Sorry to hear about the passing of your father. Although I did not know him, I am sure his sweet disposition lives on in you.
We know each other through Susan Steward Barre and Bobby Mathterne. Please accept all my sympathy, best wishes and prayers.

Mrs. Joan, We were saddened to see Mr. Evan's passing. We certainly miss the two of you on Rue Nichole. I will always remember the two of you walking hand in hand on your walks, always stopping to talk to the neighbors. We will certainly remind our Evan of the nice man who lived on the corner with the same name.

Dear Joan, Evan, Jennifer and Ian,

We would like to express our Sympathy on the passing of Mr. Evan.
Our visit with you all in Hot springs was very memorable. Bill and Evan spoke about their flying days and Bill thoroughly enjoyed hearing the stories from Evan, his memories of that time in his life was so vivid. We wish we would have known him longer.
You are all in our prayers and we know that the days ahead will be full of good memories. May God bless you.

Miss Joan and family,

How difficult to say goodbye to so much of our past as it slips away. Mr. Evan was such a wonderful bright spot at Soulé—always so kind, witty and cheerful. And what a beautiful pair Miss Joan and Mr. Evan were—ever so crisp and “spiffy” looking, and the constant epitome of a loving, caring couple.

My thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family during this difficult time.

Dear Miss Joanie and family:
We had worried often, post-Katrina, about our many friends. We were terribly saddened to hear of the loss of Mr. Evan. Our thoughts and prayers are with your very dear family.

My Dearest Joan, Evan, Jr. and Family:

My heart is so sad thinking of the "Boss of the Gardening Committee of Bocage" leaving his family. My memories of Evan will never be forgotten; I remember our many interesting chats and his stories and especially the wonderful trip to Commander's Palace to help celebrate his 70th birthday. I know the wonderful memories of the years you shared together will keep you warm during these days of sadness all must go through but also remember to...
