Not sure what to say?

Jill was in my third grade class at Belshaw Elementary School the first year I taught. I knew her dad was an assemblyman, but focusing on trying to get through the year with 35 students, I paid little attention to his position. I just ran across his name and read his bio. I was so pleased to see what a progressive far-sighted man he was. I remember Jill as a great little student and would love to know what she is doing now.

In 1973, I was 14 years of age and flying on a plane from Chicago back to California. I was sitting next to a man and his two sons and we played poker (first time I ever played). I had a wonderful time. When I got off the plane, my mom was so excited, she hardly noticed me and just shrieked because she was so shocked to see Congressman Waldie. I explained to her that I had just won money playing poker with the family. It was quite humorous.
Its one of my favorite memories and I...

Joann today I thought of you because you had your baby on the day I thought I would have mine. As it turned out I had my Cindy at Election Day after I voted for your husband.(October 31,1958) I was so sorry to hear of your husband's passing. My husband cared very much for him . My husband Phillip Tiscareno passed on on October 13, 2006 I don't know if you remember me , but I would like to tell you that I admired your husband very much as much as Phillip .

As a young radio news reporter (KWUN) in the early 1970s, I had the pleasure of meeting with Congressman Waldie on several occasions. He was kind, considerate, and thoughtful...and I'll always treasure the memories of his giving me his insights. Best wishes to his family.

Joanne:

I have fond memories of you and Jerry and your wonderful children, Jill, Jon, and Jeff.

I began working in political campaigns at the age of 14 in Antioch, and later had the pleasure and excitement of working in Jerry's first and subsequent campaigns for the State Assembly, and his last political campaign for Governor. (Walk on Waldie -- Walk On.) Jerry gave me wise political advice that lead to my working as the administrative assistant to the late Assembly...

Mrs. Waldie and family.

I am writing on behalf on my mother, Ethel Lampley, who through the City of Antioch worked closely with Jerry for many years. Mom is not able to write herself, but sends her deepest condolences to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Alice Beede

My deepest condolences to the Waldie family. I grew up in Antioch having graduated in '66 when Jerome was resident in the town and it was a better place for his presense. "Jerry" directly helped a friend obtain employment when he was 'unemployable'
due to being wounded in Vietnam. Turns
out he was a good employee for many decades, see Jerry believed in helping folks, especially disabled war vets - and that was not just a campaign logo. Jerry was real and politics didn't change...

Dear Mrs. Waldie,

I am truly saddened by the passing of Jerry Waldie. In the summer of 1973, I had the privilege of interning in Congressman Waldie's Washington, D.C. office. That summer was a critical time in the history of our country and Mr. Waldie took the lead in denouncing what was morally contemptible and courageously calling on Americans to reset our nation's moral compass. I was and am proud to have worked for and with an honest man in an era of rampant dishonesty in...

Dear Joanne and Family,

Life is so precious; Babylonia and I, are so sorry for your loss.

Joanne. Jerry entered my heart and my mind ever since that basketball game at our house (corner of Tregallis and Lone Tree Way). I was about four years old and I remember how his charisma and charm has stayed with me since that tender age. You've cared for Jerry and your Mom. Joanne, you are a great Wife, Mother and Care-giver, that has been there for an equally, great Man. ...
