I can’t believe he’s gone Everything he did helped the world. He was a person who defied description. I don’t want to make him sound like a saint. In some way, that would actually lessen his importance. He will be missed. I haven’t lived in Allegheny West for a long time but my many memories of that beloved place contain John

John and I were friends at Georgetown University in the early 1970's. He was one of the most intelligent and interesting and unique people that I have ever known. He had a mind of his own and was not afraid to be himself. He also had a great sense of humor and his laughter was contagious. We stayed in touch by calling one another every New Year's Eve but after some years we both grew busy and our tradition ended. Having worked the box office at the Home and Garden Show since the old convention center days, I always looked forward to spending time there. I have so many memories of time spent at the show and John always took the time to walk by the box office with a "good morning", right before he moved the stanchions into exactly the perfect spot. I first met John ~10 years ago having seen his episodes of I Love Toy Trains. I wrote to him early in the year and asked if there was ever a chance to see his collection I would be honored. In October I received my first of many invitations and took my Dad, Mother (both deceased) and my Brother to the "Train Party". With the exception of 2018 when I shattered my ankle, I had the honor and privilege of attending all remaining events. I saved each invitation including the first yellow No. 10...
