"John ?Jay? Lawrence Lavey III passed away on August 24th at Jordan Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 58. He was the beloved son of Jessica (Sargent) and the late John Lavey Jr. of Plymouth. Jay also leaves his sisters Kandace ?Kandy? Lydon and her companion Byron Lohnes of Plympton, Audrey Lavey of Boston and his brother John Rotundo of Plymouth. He was the beloved uncle to Abbie Lydon and her fiance Jason Baumann and Kelly Lavey Lydon of Plympton. He graduated from Marshwood High School in South Berwick, Maine in 1970. Jay had worked for IEBW Local 104 as a lineman for over 30 years and after retiring he moved to Naples, Maine. While living with his sister, he built a formula race car in her garage following his passion for race car driving which he did in Nashua, NH. Jay had loved to travel and had back packed extensively through Europe. Jay discovered his passion for sailing after moving to Naples. He had named his boat ?Braveharte? after his sailing mentor who had passed away. He and his friends from Maine traveled to Spain and chartered a sailboat, sailing around Mallorca. Jay had also spent the past few winters in Thailand. After his own injury which limited his ability to sail, he became the time-keeper for the local sailing club races in Naples. Jay was known for keeping his friends and family entertained with his stories and he was a man with class and a real gentleman. Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Thursday August 28th at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St. (Rt. 3A), N. Plymouth from 4 to 7 PM. A graveside service will be held at the Vine Hills Cemetery on Thursday, September 4th at 12 noon. A Celebration of his life will be held in Naples, Maine at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory towards pancreatic cancer can be made to John Hopkins University and mailed to Ralph H. Hruban MD, John Hopkins Medical Institutions, 401 North Broadway, Weinberg 2242, Baltimore, MD 21231-2410. "
