McCARTHY, John Montgomery, 66, of Kents Store, Va., died May 9, 2008 at his residence. Mr. McCarthy, a native of Norfolk, graduated from Maury High School, the University of Virginia and obtained his law degree from TC Williams Law School. He was a member of the Ki Phi Fraternity. He was retired from the Attorney Generals office where he served as a Senior Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Mr. McCarthy was also an accomplished artist known for his contemporary Virginia landscapes. He is survived by his wife, Judy; one daughter, Carrie McCarthy Webster of Richmond, Virginia; two brothers, James M. McCarthy of Atlanta, Ga., and Benjamin T. McCarthy of Boca Raton, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Eric Matthew Webster and Andrew Joseph Webster; and his best pal, Buddy. A graveside service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Columbia, Virginia at 11 a.m. on May 14, 2008. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or the Fluvanna SPCA.
