John Workman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 8, 2015.
Everyone enters a room their own way, but for John each entrance was filled with enthusiasm and hugs. His familiar Heloooo announcing his presence with a smile as he would give everyone in the room a hug whether he knew them or not will be greatly missed.
John Artel Workman was Born July 17 1971 in Salt Lake City Utah
John Passed away Saturday May 2nd at his home in Murray Utah to begin the next phase of his mission.
John had a passion for learning, he graduated from Brighton High School, The University of Utah and The California School of psychology, receiving a Masters degree, and all but his dissertation in receiving his PHD. John like our father loved learning and education. He was passionate about his schooling and wanted to make a difference in the world with the knowledge he had received.
John had an unwavering love for his nieces and nephews and treated them as if they were his own children often giving their parents critical advice and suggestions on parenting. He would have been a great father.
John was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day saints, active in his mid single adult ward, and worked at the Salt Lake Temple.
John carries the middle name Artel the same as our father, and that name is fitting because of the 7 children, John is most like our Dad.
John is the son Liahona Workman and the Late Verle Artel Workman
He is survived by his Mother Liahona Workman his Brothers and sisters Joann Meitler, Dianne Douglass, Verl N Workman, Leann Elkebbi, Joseph Workman, Maryann Farlino, and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents and is enjoying a happy reunion with them.
John lived life to its fullest and was an inspiration to everyone he met. We loved John for all his quirks, and passions. He was a good son, a great brother, an exceptional Uncle and an amazing friend to many.
The funeral will be held Monday May 11th 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood Creek Stake Center located at 1535 E. Creek Road in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
Friends and family may pay their respects at a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m the same morning.
John will be laid to rest near his father at Memorial Estate Cemetery on Bengal Blvd with a view of the amazing mountains that he loved.

Verl - I can relate better than most having lost my daughter, Jamie Renee Boone Fitzgerald, on July 13, 2012. We are blessed to have the gospel in our lives and to understand the Plan of Salvation and know we can be with our children again in the hereafter. May the love and wonderful memories you have of John help to bring a smile to your face through the tears when you think of him.

My heart still deeply aches as I grieve over John's passing. John meant the world to me. If I were to name the people who have helped me the most in my lifetime, John's name would easily be in the top three. He made me the person that I am today by showing me how to be assertive and by giving me the strength for battle.

Thank you, John, for believing in me. For your kindness and generosity. You were a brother that I didn't have. A fantastic human being. An exceptional friend. An amazing coach. A fellow soldier in battle against the adversary. A fellow pirate. A thousand of Bruce Lee's kicks.

Looking back on what you have accomplished in your lifetime and the difference you've made in other people's lives, I have coined M.I.E.R. especially just for you. The Motivations, The Inspirations, The Encouragements, and The Recommendations. You had shown me unsurpassable work ethics and exquisite workmanship.

I admire you for the strength that you possessed and for the amazing person that you were. Your intelligence, your wisdom, your courage, your patience, your assertiveness, your perseverance, your tactfulness, your resilience, and your playfulness. I humbly offer you my eternal friendship. An unbreakable, inviolable, infrangible, indomitable, imperturbable, unconquerable kind of friendship, not even my biological brother or "it" can destroy. I will always be your witness as your spirit forever lives on.

It was a true honor and incredible journey building the ship with you, John. One carving at a time. The ship will carry me through the most treacherous waters imaginable to conquer the darkest of the dark. Often times the biggest fish are found in the deepest, darkest waters. You are welcome to step aboard our unsinkable ship anytime, Matey. A ship like the one Nephi had constructed, as he was commanded by the Lord and taught the skills of ship creating, so their family could cross the Oceans to the New World! I, too, pray and hope that we will surf and sail in the next life, brother!

My prayers will always be with you, John A. Workman.

John was my neighbor, he always came over to talk to my kids and I when he saw us. He knew that my daughter loved pop tarts and brought her some one day as well as giving my kids a few dollars so they could go get slurpees. John was such a gentle and caring person, he will be missed by many.

My roommate, my friend, my brother. John, may you now find peace in the next phase of your journey. May you now discover the true purpose of this great existence and your roll in it. May you be comforted in knowing your contribution to this world was truly in line with what our "creators" had in mind and your life upon this beautiful earth was the perfect example of love and charity. May your pain be lifted and your soul rejoice knowing you passed the test. May the real truth that you have now discovered be a burning presence throughout your continued journey. Thank you for your trust in me. Thank you for your patience and THANK YOU for helping me find my true purpose in this mortal life. When we meet again, may we sit and have a great laugh about it all. May you rest in peace my good brother. See you again!

John A. Workman reminded me of great kindness. A man of an exquisite workmanship, he was very patient and always cared about the world. I knew John for over nine years. He definitely touched my life and transformed me into a better person. One thing that he was passionate about was the beach. John seemed very happy when he was living in Hermosa beach, CA. We would walk down the block and hung out at the beach watching some dolphins on occasion. I can still vividly recall his laughs. I remember the first time he had shaved his hair off and was wearing a beanie to cover it up. When I asked him about it, he quickly removed his beanie to show me his clean-shaven scalp. We both laughed. I'm going to miss you big time, John!

I am so saddened by your loss. John and I were starting a great friendship and had many adventures planned. He was a gentleman who was kind, spiritual, and so fun to be around. He will be forever missed, and I will hold our moments close. Prayers and thoughts are with you always!
