Michael J. Bishop

63, of Evansville, died at his residence on Friday, September 3, 2010. Michael was purchasing manager for Raben Tire for over 34 years. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War and a member of VFW 1114 Men's Auxiliary. He is a life member of American Legion Post 265, and has served as past commander, finance officer, and is currently on the Executive Board. He is member of the 8th district American Legion and is past district commander and currently the finance officer and has held several chairmanships for the department of Indiana American Legion. He is also a member of the Forty and Eight. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy, daughter Tamara Hungate of Evansville, son, Timothy Bishop and his wife Lisa of Greenwood, IN, grandsons, Allen Hungate and Mason Baker, and granddaughters Katlyn Bishop, Matlyn Baker and Ashley Hungate-Hobbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Virginia Louise (Shank) Bishop). Visitation will be Tuesday September 7 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 North First Ave., Evansville. There will be a memorial service by the Forty and Eight at 6:30 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. by St. Theresa Catholic Church. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 at St. Theresa Church, 600 Herndon Dr., Evansville, on Wednesday, September 8. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 at the church with Father Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial club will conduct graveside services.
