Not sure what to say?

Almost a year has passed and we STILL miss Mike! We think of him often and this year has not been the same without Mike. He passed on my birthday (thank you, Mike!) so we'll always remember him at this time of year.

Mike is not someone that can be forgotten - nor would we want to forget him.

Mike Jr. - you've done a great job of keeping Subdivision Sports going and keeping your dad's legacy going. I'm sure that he's proud of your efforts and his spirit is with...

WOW!! A year has passed. In some ways it seems like it has been longer than 1 year and in other ways it seems just like yesterday. Mike was the type of guy you can never forget. His name has come up so many times, with so many different people in the last year. He touched so many lives. We miss his humor and smiling face.

In our eyes Mike (his son) has really "stepped up" into some huge shoes to fill with Sub.Soccer and is doing a great job. Mike would be proud.

It's been almost a year that Fin's been gone.
I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that he is in my thoughts and in my heart.
Every so often I look at the photos I took of him, me and Mike Jr.
It seems that it was just yesterday that I was with him joking and laughing about the "old days" when he and I were "young and foolish".
Man, we had some great times.
This guest book is going to close soon.
So, I hope that all of you that left your email address will receive this note...

How ironic -
We had received the email about a Guestbook update on 12/06, and thought it was a note about tonight at SMMP.
Tonight was a memorial mass at SMMP and we saw a few "soccer" faces that reminded us of Mike. We're sure he is smiling down on the green soccer fields, and wishing he could have been part of the SMMP memorial mass.

Almost six months have gone by since we lost Fin.
There hasn't been a day that has gone by that I haven't thought about my best friend.
Every now and again I look at the photos we took March of this year.
I can plainly see that he wasn't well, but he was happy knowing he had friends that would look after his son, Michael.
I think of our last phone call and the tone of his voice. Fin was always up for a laugh... I miss his laugh.
I don't know if any of you will see this but, I...

WOW! Where do we begin? Mike was one of a kind and that is meant in a good way! He always had an opinion and a joke or story. He was never at a loss for words and he made us all laugh.

Mike is truly a hero to so many people - kids and adults! He gave so much to the community and has enriched so many lives. Many people are better for having come in contact with Mike.

Mike's heart was very big! He cared for people beyond expression. He picked up many by their ankles...

What can I say about "Fin".

My nickname is JNO...Fin and I go back 30 years....1975 to be exact.
We met on the trading floor of the CBOE.
Only by chance did I find out that he went to grammar school, back in Brooklyn, N.Y., with my wife's brother.
Now, just think of that...1,000 miles from Brooklyn and at least 25 years from when he went to grammar school.
Something told us that this was meant to be a life long relationship.
And...it was.

There...

Our thouights and prayers are with Mike's family. Thanks to Mike, and his family, for his dedication to soccer in Naperville.
The Spain family

Our prayers go out to Mike and his family. His work in subdivision sports left a legacy for the kids in the area. He will not be forgotten.
