I sent Morgan a Christmas card like I always do and it was returned today. Sadly, just discovered that he has passed, I know it's late but my condolences to the family. Morgan has to be one of the coolest people that I have ever met. I was lucky to meet him in Hillsborough, NC on an ice rink, we immediately became friends. We would skate and then stop in the middle of the rink and shoot the bull, then skate some more, then stop and talk. I think more than half my time on the ice was spent talking to Morgan. He always would yell, " You better not fall or I will have to kiss your butt!" Never a dull moment when Morgan was on the ice, he was loved by everyone who regularly visited the Sportsplex. When I had complications with my pregnancy and was out on bed rest for 4 months he would call almost everyday and keep me entertained. Sadly he left us in NC and moved back to New Jersey, but before he left, my family and I got a wonderful treat. Morgan invited us over one day after we met him for dinner and got to see his artwork. Wow! It's been many years, but the butt naked skaters on the ice still stands out in my head. Beautiful!!
I am so lucky to have met Morgan, such a great person who brought a lot of smiles, laughter, and joy into my life. I don't think I would have gotten through those long 4 months on bed rest without his phone calls. I will miss those glorious Christmas Cards and treasure the ones I was lucky enough to receive. Every time I step on to the ice, I think of him...he will be missed.

Morgan was a brilliant artist, hypnotist, skater and friend.
Some were lucky enough to see his paintings first hand; reproductions don't do justice to the surprising mix of classical training and personal wit in his work. Illustration was his livelihood and he left his mark as a premier mid-century commercial artist. His influence is engrained in so much we look at today. Think Santa Claus with a Coke.
No doubt, his success was due not only to artistic gifts but his charm as well. His repertoire of jokes, riddles and anecdotes could go on for days, and sometimes did. He was kind, stubborn, playful, and devoted to everything he cared about. In his early 70s he took up figure skating and could literally skate circles around most people half his age. He was a hypnotist highly-respected by his peers. I don't think I experienced those skills, but I guess we'll never know ?.
Morgan was a generous soul, an independent thinker and a gentleman. He was unique and will be missed.
