Oscar was such a gentle soul and a gentleman. I always admired his generosity and how he helped others in Cuba. It was so impressive that he never really retired, continuing to help and inspire other people. What a joy it was to meet so many people from work or his private life who loved him. Rest in peace, Oscar.

Oscar was the patriarch of our family; he listened, cared, loved, and exemplified humility and patience to all. As his niece, I admired and respected this larger than life being who exemplified the good in this world. I am grateful to have known and learned so much about caring and helping those in Cuba, Miami, and throughout the world. May Oscar's examples inspire all of us to be the light in another's life.

Uncle Oscar was an amazing combination of a gentle, comforting soul and a brilliant, encyclopedic mind. How rare to find a person with his gifts who remained grounded and steadfast in his compassion for others. Oscar would never have sought admiration, but the example of his life is a bright beacon of a life well lived. Uncle Oscar was a loving inspiration to us all.

Oscar's life manifested itself in a singular drive to help others and make the world a better place. He had a calling from early on, instilled in him partly by the Jesuit Fathers who were his early teachers (he entered the Seminary for awhile but left to become a Dr.). What a great example to have in one's life and to try to emulate...what an exceptional person to have known and loved.
