Peter Koch Obituary

KOCH, PETER ALFRED 65, of Verdant Lane, Warwick, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at home, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Marite (Kelly) Koch. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Peter and Dorothy (Giovine) Koch. He was raised in West Warwick and lived in Warwick for the past 40 years. Peter attended Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick and the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. Peter was the Chief Executive Officer of Koch Eye Associates for the past 30 years. He was a board member of the Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership, Coastway Community Bank, Candescent Holdings, LLC, Sargent Rehabilitation Center, Workforce Partnership of R.I. and Button Hole Golf. Peter is well known for his love of golf and was a member of The Carnegie Abbey Club, Skibo Castle in Dornoch, Scotland, and Fiddlesticks Country Club in Ft. Myers, FL. Some of his most memorable golf achievements include his six holes-in-one, making par on every hole at Pebble Beach and most recently winning the World Senior Amateur Championship in Provence, France. Peter was an avid traveler but his greatest pleasure was being a devoted husband, father and friend. He leaves behind four children: Kelly Koch, of Springfield, MA, Amy (Koch) Flynn and her husband, Stephen, of Hingham, MA, Kristen Koch, and Peter Koch, Jr., both of Boston, MA. Peter was survived by his brother, Paul S. Koch, M.D., and his wife, Joanne, of Warwick, and his sister, D. Dear Peter
You were always a great guy and always showed kindness you were best friends with my cuz michael in high school n then had an eye for his sis.. I remember your engagement party at Marcy street and the whole family was so excited for you and Marite. . You and my dad really enjoyed each other .when kelly was born u brought her to the camp n we all watched her in amazement just sitting there in her cradle on the dock... Our whole family again overjoyed by the first of the new generation being born. In college I bounced basketballs with my frat from uri to the prov civic center for our for charity event during the annual uri / pc game and I stopped in ur warwick office as u were a young accountant and u warmly greeted us and help donate. Many years later I invited u to play golf n talk business in louisville and I still remember you stopping in the middle of the fairway n calling ur friend joe theism an n telling him u were playing golf in V A L H AL L A! You always embraced the joy of living and were warm, loving , giving and kind to all of us . Thank you for being a good man to us and showing kindness . You will be missed by all of us and I feel for your children's pain now . You will not be forgotten . Enjoy the rounds with my dad n uncle Matt. Marite is happy now that you are with her . With love . Ur cuz kevin

Dear Kelly, Amy, Kristen and Peter,

My heart is heavy for your loss, your dad was a wonderful man. Coach Koch is synonymous with my youth. I can still see him on the 3rd base line coaching our CYO team to victory (s). I remember one particular game, a foul ball came out to me (left field),and I ran towards it with little hope of actually catching it. Extending my left arm across and turning my back to the infield, not even looking at the ball, I opened my glove and wala, we won the game. Your dad was shocked and ecstatic, he threw the clipboard in the air and began screaming with joy! I don't know who was more proud, he or I. It would be 20 years before I saw your dad again. Koch Eye was a client of mine and I had brought my sales manager in to meet him. In true Mr. Koch fashion, he spent the majority of the appointment retelling the story of how I won the game ball that season. I might of been a little embarrassed but I was touched he remembered every detail of that day. There aren't many people who have that ability to make you feel special, and he was one. RIP Mr. Koch
My deepest sympathy
xoxo

My deepest sympathy and prayers to the Koch Family. I go back to his 1st grade at St. James in West Warwcik. We were CYO cheerleaders and Peter was one of our star basketball players. One year we petitioned his father to allow him to play in the State finals. Peter was grounded for "something". We then became "Peter's Girls" and we tried to keep in touch over the years. We "girls" will get together to celebrate his life and talk about him for hours. A person we will not forget.
