Richard Rorapaugh Obituary

RORAPAUGH Richard Donald Rorapaugh Sr., age 86, of Powell, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012. He was born to the late Donald Cedric Rorapaugh and Margaret Louise Gaffney Harryman on August 1, 1925 in Baltimore, MD. Dick was an active duty WWII veteran and Korean War veteran, retiring as Lieutenant USNR. A graduate of USMMA at Kings Point in Long Island, he received his Bachelor of Engineering. He was also a graduate of Loyola College of Maryland, receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration. He was a dedicated long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was also very active with Boy Scouts of America, serving a very meaningful role of leadership. Dick was a self employed CLU and ChFC, working in the insurance and financial planning business since the 1960s. Dick will truly be missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Chauncey Brooks Harryman, and two step-brothers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Anne Newton Rorapaugh; children, Richard Donald (Penny) Rorapaugh Jr. of Columbus, Douglas N. Rorapaugh of Philadelphia, PA, Michael Brooks (Kathleen) Rorapaugh, of Medina, OH, and Anne Walker Rorapaugh, of Columbus; grandchildren, Cara, Troy (Elizabeth), Kristin, Abby, Michael, and Mason Rorapaugh; and many extended family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Rd., Columbus, OH 43221. Rev. Tracy Keenan officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Covenant Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 2070 Ridgecliff Rd., Columbus, OH 43221 or the American Heart Association- Ohio Valley Affiliate, PO Box 163549, Columbus, OH 43216-3549.
