Sweet's Funeral Home Obituary

Robert B. Prudhomme, 80, an area resident for 21 years and formerly of Massachusetts, died on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, N.Y. Born in Crookston, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Aime and Rachel (Cournoyer) Prudhomme. On August 6, 1992, he married Audrey Silvers, who survives at home. Bob was a general contractor, owning his own business, Prudhomme Construction Co., Inc. Bob flew his own airplane and was very proud of himself when he received his pilot's license. He also enjoyed summers cruising around on his boats. As a hobby, he loved to build magnificent ship models, play chess, paint pictures Bob Ross style, and do crossword puzzles. He was very active in the Elks Club. He worked his way up to Exalted Ruler of the Medford, MA Lodge of Elks, No. 915, and also Exalted Ruler of the Hyde Park, NY Lodge of Elks, No. 2778. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his former wife, Doris Prudhomme, of New Hampshire; his brother, Aime Prudhomme Jr. and his wife Barbara, of Medford, MA; his daughter Cheryl Prudhomme, of Fort Edward, NY; his sons, Robert Jr., Steven, and Donald of New Hampshire and his son Daniel of California. He is also survived by his step-children, Debra Bound of Hyde Park and Dean Silvers of Sealy, Texas. He is survived by his 8 grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sisters Jane Stover and Gloria McDonald of Massachusetts. There will be no calling hours and burial of his ashes will be at the convenience of the family. Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially by his great-granddaughter and "best" friend, Destiny Imperati. He will live on in our hearts forever.
