Dear Marita, My heart goes out to you and your family in this time of sadness. Sam was my fraternity brother at KU, and one of the most generous men I have ever known. I was saddened to see Sam's obituary. You and Sam were such special friends to my mom. I always enjoyed working with Sam over the years on various projects. Please except our sympathy at this difficult time.

Sam was a professor who took the time to invest in me as a struggling journalism student. He was my advisor, my mentor and most importantly my friend.
Rest in the arms of the Lord my friend.
I am sorry that I could not be there to celebrate your life with family and friends.
