What a wonderful teacher he was. He encouraged the best from his students , as did Jon. The music is supposed to be great on the Other Side, with reunion of souls, and animals, I hope. May he rest in peace.

R.I.P. Mr. Womack, my favorite memory of Mr. Womack occurred over 20 years following graduation. My two daughters, Elizabeth & Rebecca age 8 & 6 traveled down from Dallas on our way to New Orleans. We stopped to see the new design building, walking up a stairway and Wayne popped in on his way to class. He recognized me immediately and took a few minutes to chat with my girls. I introduced him as my teacher Mr. Womack. Hi Mr. Womack in that high pitched child voice. He immediately had the biggest smile and his eyes lit up. He was genuinely the kindest and most sincere person and his devotion to my education was clear from the start. Thank you for being my teacher!

Such a dear man and teacher. After graduating - and although I never had him in class- I felt free enough to call him for advice when I started teaching planting design myself. Wayne was a consummate gentleman and true hero of mine!
I attended his history class as an observer while in grad school even if it wasn't required. He was Not to be missed! We had a Wayne Womack word/phrase for the day at the top of our course notes each meeting, like Italian Cypress stilettoed against the sky or spring plants nudging against the softened earth. I still remember these two from almost 40 years ago! Memories of you will always be with me, dear Wayne..........Judy Brittenum

What a joy and pleasure it was knowing Wayne during my years at LSU. It sadden me deeply when I heard of his passing. A lifetime is a precious gift, an opportunity for spiritual growth and service to others which Wayne exemplified in his teaching style. Sending light and love your way and wishing Wayne a fun and exciting adventure on his journey home to God.

Wayne was such an important part of my life and education, as he was to so many. He was exceptional, personally and professionally. I know he is already in the garden of paradise, which is where he came to us from. Wayne, please visit us in this realm to remind us of the divinity, serenity and beauty of this present moment. He was dedicated to the creation of beauty in each of us and our surroundings. My sincere condolences to his partner Jon, family and all his loved ones, which there are many.

Jon, I'm so sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. You and Wayne were such an influence on my education at LSU, and the way I view the world around me. I was so fortunate to have Wayne as my 5th year adviser or I probably would not have graduated. Wayne was a great teacher. He had a way to open eyes, a gift to take what was given, and make something extraodinary out of it, and you had the gift or putting it all together. Please know my thoughts and prayer are with you. Just know you both made such a difference in so many lives. Wayne, I will miss you my friend.

I was notified by another Class of 83 grad of Wayne's passing a moment ago and immediately stopped to send my heartfelt regrets! Wayne was a fantastic professor and surely enhanced our curriculum and my days as an undergrad at LSU. Thanks for the person you where and for the wonderful memories! Miss you Wayne!
