William S. Smith, age 88, of Lovell Lake Road in Sanbornville, died Tuesday morning, September 11, 2007 at home.

Born October 24, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Charles B. and Ethel O. (O’Neill) Smith, he resided in Sanbornville since 1982, having summered there from 1974-1981, and previously residing in Dover, NH for many years.

A Veteran of World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma there.

Bill retired as a Manager of Marketing with General Electric in Somersworth

and was a member of SCORE ( Service Corp of Retired Executives).

He was a communicant at St. Anthony’s Church in Sanbornville.

Widower of the late Jean (White) Smith, who died on June 21, 2006, he is survived by 2 sons: Lawrence B. Smith of Silver Spring, MD and Thomas C. Smith of Sanbornville, 1 daughter: Mary Lynne & husband Phillip G. Cincotta of No. Yarmouth, ME, 2 grandsons: Eric J. Smith of Rochester, NH & Jonathan W. Smith of Portsmouth, NH, 2 granddaughters: Elizabeth J. Cincotta & Katherine M. Cincotta, both of No. Yarmouth, ME, 3 great grandchildren, a sister: Dorothy Chrisman, also several Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by a son: Russell C. Smith on July 31, 1999.

A prayer service will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 at 1:30 pm at the family home, 77 Lovell Lake Road in Sanbornville, NH, with Fr. Edmund A. Babicz, officiating. Interment will follow at Lovell Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Peaslee Funeral Home, 2079 Wakefield Road, Sanbornville, NH.
