RICK EDWARD PURCELL

July 17, 1951 - August 14, 2012. Rick was born in Grand Haven, MI where he resided until he was 21 years old. He then moved to Daytona Beach, FL where he began bartending and managing restaurants for 35 yrs. at places such as the Caboose, Gilley's Pub 44, Casa Gallardo. He married the love of his life Terry Welcher Purcell in 1981 and raised three children in their home in Ormond Beach, FL. He will remembered for his love for fishing, the beach, and spending his time with family and fiends. There was nothing he wouldn't do when he saw a need. Not only was he a loving generous husband, father, uncle, brother, and Godfather, he greeted everyone he met with kindness and understanding. He was predeceased by his father Robert Purcell and his mother Ruth Purcell, as well as his best friends Gibby Stark, Greg Cardwell and his father-in-law Jim Welcer. He is survived by his sons James Purcell of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Scott Purcell of Tampa, FL; his daughter Megan Purcell of Ormond Beach; his siblings Robert, Ron, Richard, Randy, Roger, and Barb of Grand Haven, MI, as well as his sister Bonny Bremmer in Stockton, CA; mother-in-law Dorothy Welcher. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be made to local blood banks. There will be a Memorial Service at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sept. 1 at 12 noon. The family would also like to thank the staff of Florida Hospital Ormond and Dr. Arun Dhand for their wonderful care and kindness.
