Joycelyn Marie Bailey

Newark - Joycelyn Marie Bailey died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Heartland Hospice House in Wilmington. Born in Showell, Md., she was the daughter of the late Morris Edgar Waters and Josephine Elizabeth Mumford Waters. Mrs. Bailey was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, in Newark, where she served as a choir member. Prior to retiring, she was employed by Christiana Hospital in Newark. She will be lovingly remembered by: her husband, James H. Bailey, Sr. of Newark; three sisters, Leetta Boykin of Millsboro, Lillie Mae Purnell of Dover and Pauline (James) Lewis of Georgetown; a nephew whom she raised, René Waters of New Jersey; one grandchild; a host of other nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Viola Moore, Edna Woolford and Josephine Jackson, and three brothers, William Waters, Morris Henry Waters and Charles Waters. Mrs. Bailey will lie in repose on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m at Curtis United Methodist Church, 11808 Campbelltown Road, Bishopville, Md. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Rev. Timothy Duffield will be the Officiating Pastor and Rev. Lonnie E. Rector will be the Eulogist. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
