"Pops," as we famously called him, was a hard worker, fostered service and had a sense of humor that changed the room. Now, he's dancing with the Angels. Xoxo

Dear Kurteff Family;
I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Kurteff as the dad of one of my closest friends. He always made me feel like part of the family and had the best sense of humor. I know he impacted many lives in such a positive way. He will be missed by so many.

I taught at Munster H.S. during the last year of George's tenure there. He was a teacher's principal and a great influence on how I conducted myself later in my career when I left the teaching profession. I was just a second year teacher and I made my share of mistakes. Mr. Kurteff always had my back. God Bless.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Mr. Kurteff was my principal as a student at Munster High, and then my boss as a teacher at Highland High. He was always focused on the best for those in his schools...students and teachers alike. Kind and endearing. He will be missed.

Long ago in East Gary, Mr. Kurteff taught us Social Studies at Edison Junior High School. I have remembered him all of these years because of his professionalism, knowledge, and--most of all--his sense of humor when dealing with us. He was, indeed, a role model for those of us who followed in his footsteps. My condolences to you, Mrs. Kurteff, and to your family...
