James Wallace Haney

1929 - 2013

ODESSA James Wallace Haney, age 84, of Odessa, passed from this life on Friday, December 6, 2013, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

He was born to the late Leslie Reeves Haney and Tennie Mae (Thrailkill) Haney in Santo, TX, on October 10, 1929.

James married Gail Klobes in San Angelo, TX, on September 12, 1953. They had recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.

James was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a Master Plumber. He loved the outdoors and therefore enjoyed outdoor hobbies, such as fishing and hunting deer and birds. He also liked to watch the Three Stooges and old black and white cowboy movies. A kid at heart, Gail often claimed he was an extra child to raise. He was quite a character and an awfully large ornery kid who loved his cats: Two Tone and Mr. Fluffy.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Gail Haney of Odessa; two sons: Jay Haney and wife Gwen of Midland and Steve Haney of Odessa; daughter: Karen Thompson of Midland; sister: Charlene Yocum of Lampasas, TX; four grandchildren: Stephen James Haney and Samuel Haney, both of Amarillo, Kasey McGuigan of Houston, and Jenny Hollis-Harkey of Midland; and his great-grandchildren: Gavin, Emma, Jacob, and Jayden.

His parents, his brothers: Orville and Lewis Haney, and one sister: Marie Roberson, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at West Odessa First Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Glenn Clark. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will include Stephen Haney, Samuel Haney, Ryan McGuigan, Freddy Williams, Lewis Hardin, and Billy Howell, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Howell, Pete Garner, W. L. Hardin, Buddy Hilton and Jerry Howell.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the West Side Senior Citizen's Center in Odessa.
