I am so sorry to hear of your dads passing. I remember Tommy when he was the head chef at the Bayou restaurant in Boca Raton. The Bayou became one of top restaurants in south florida after my uncle,Jack Benson promoted him to run the kitchen. I parked cars at the Bayou and Tommy was a great friend. Over the years I lost touch with him but it was great news to learn of his later success with Tom`s Place and his famous rib sauces. His great personality and love of life will remain with me forever.

Dave and I remain eternally grateful to God for allowing us to love and be loved by such a great man and woman. We valued Mr. Tom and Mrs. Helen as precious gems. Dave and I appreciate the love they had for the people in Belle Glade. Many Sundays they drove from their home to attend services with the Redemptive Life Fellowship, in Belle Glade. Mr. Tom would teach everyone in the audience the importance of giving and receiving from God. One could see the burning desire in his heart for the people to live above their circumstances. May the God of all comfort be light to you and give each of you His Peace.

The children of the late Mr. Eddie B. Williams and Geraldine Williams offer our prayers and thoughts to the Wright family during these most difficult times. Our families go back so far from the time Mr. Tom open his restaurant. Our fathers were friends and all of us eventually became friends. Our parents are now in eternity together and all of us know exactly how each of you are feeling and will be feeling in the days to come. Ironically Mr. Tom past into eternal life on the 12th anniversary date of dad's departure and our mothers passed in the same year. We have learned in these past 12 years that earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal. All of us, Eddie, Cheryl, Angela, Bobbie, Patrick, Francine and Frank have you in our prayers and offer our deepest sympathy. God Bless you and keep you is our prayer.

To the Wright Family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers! We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Tom and Helen. I have known Helen all of my life because she was my God-Sister. We had the opportunity of having my husband's Retirement Luncheon at the Boca Facility of Tom's Place, and we had often dined there. They will be missed, but Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven cannot heal. Look up, for your redemption drawth nigh! Be encouraged, no matter what's going on, He will make it alright, but stand firm and let God take control.
God bless the family!

I am a teacher. I used to teach drop out prevention for elementary school kids. I also loved Tom's Place... so one year for our end of the year celebration I gathered my kids for a field trip to Tom's and then off to a movie. As I prepared to pay for the meal of some 15 kids, Tom came by and comped the whole thing...his wife then gave each of the kids $5.00 for the movie. I'm sure those kids never forgot that day. I know I haven't. I'm sure God in Heaven is eating a little better these days.

My husband and I were saddened to learn of Mr. Wright's passing. We greatly enjoyed the hospitality he and his late gracious wife Helen offered at their Boca restaurant. Their history and the spirit they shared with this community and all who crossed their paths should prove an inspiration to all of us. He (and Helen) will be sorely missed, but we are pleased that their legacy continues in West Palm Beach. Our deepest sympathy to Mr. Wright's family and friends.

I enjoyed Tom's ribs, chicken, and all the delicious foods he prepared. I lived in the Northwood Area for many years, and the highlight of our weekend was to see Tom's mobile BBQ set up in King's Foods parking lot. Many thanks to Tom and his entire family for sharing their delicious foods and friendly ways. Please keep it going.

Back in 1983 when I first moved to Florida, I worked for a local accounting firm. Mr. Wright's business was a client and any time he would drop off his paper work at the office, he would always bring ribs for the whole office. Any time I went to the restaurant on Dixie Hwy to conduct business; I never left without having been fed. I will always remember his cheerful attitude and his enthusiasm to please his public. This icon of Palm Beach County will surely be missed. My condolences and prayers are with the Wright family.

I was reared in Boca Raton, and fell in love with Tom's Ribs during the days in which he started at "Mr.Lee Arthur's" old place on Dixie Highway. Mr. Wright lived by the the adage esposed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., "everybody can be great, because everybody can serve." Not only was he a smart businessman, but he was also a humble and concerned citizen who gave back to the community in immense ways which have never been told. In 1985, I was engaged in volunteer work with at-risk youths in the Pearl City community, and, without any fanfare or media attention, Mr. Wright gave me a check for $2,000 to support the effort. He will be greatly missed.
God Bless the Wright family.

I'll always remember all the great times and wonderful food at Tom's Place. Any time relatives came from out of town we had to take them there for dinner. But of course, we never needed an excuse to head to Boca. Tom's was always known for the best ribs in town.. Hands down! (and don't forget the black eyed peas and corn bread!) Tom will be missed. My sincere condolences to the Wright family. Keep up the good work in WPB.

My prayers and sympathy go out to the Wright family during the loss of your father. Your entire family was always a welcoming sight when anyone entered Tom's Place. You made others feel as though they had been a part of your lives forever, even if you didn't know them. I always felt that way when I came in, Cassandra always asking about my daughter in school. Thank you.
Your parents (both Helen & Tom, Sr.) will be greatly missed. Keep up your parents legacy.

Palm Beach County has lost a great icon. Tom and his family have done much to unite our community regardless of race. Tom's love was not only for his food, but for all people and God. His love made that old shack blossom into the various restaurants over the years.
Today, I know Tom and Helen are still smiling down at all who enter Tom's Place.

Thanks Mr. Wright, for your legacy. I remember the origial Tom's Ribs shack off of Dixie Highway in Boca, when my dad took me there to get some ribs, then to see it grow to the new one on Federal Highway. Mr. Wright is an inspiration to all that anyone could make it in this life with hard work, no matter what color you are. Mr. Wright will be truly missed, now he's reunited with Helen, spending eternity with her forever.
