Allen Lambert Obituary

Allen J. Lambert

1935 - 2015

Allen J. Lambert, 80, of Gulf Breeze, died on Saturday, December 19, 2015, totally surrounded by his loving family.

After leaving Thaxton, MS, the Lambert family moved to Mobile, AL, where Allen attended school and graduated from Murphy High School in 1953. He then joined the US Army. While in the Army, God called him to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Upon discharge, he entered the University of Alabama, graduating in 1958, and became a CPA in 1961. He returned to Mobile to practice accounting there until 1966, at which time he moved to Gadsden, AL, where he became a partner in a large, regional accounting firm; moved to Pensacola Beach in 1985 and opened his own practice. At the time of his retirement in 2008, after 50 years of practicing accounting, he was certified to practice accounting in five states.

Allen loved Pensacola Beach. For over 25 years, he has been on the "Rice Team", cooking rice for the Krewe of Wrecks Red Beans and Rice during Mardi Gras. He was a trustee of the Beach Community Church and was instrumental in building their new church. He attended Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, where he was known and appreciated by all as the "yeast roll maker" for the Wednesday night suppers and the Sharing and Caring luncheons. He never missed a Christmas Season without ringing the Salvation Army bell. In 2001, after 9/11, he and Jureda traveled twice to NYC to work at Ground Zero for the Salvation Army.

Mr. Lambert is preceded in death by his parents, Whit and Katheryn Carpenter Lambert, his brother, JW Lambert, and his son, Terry Lambert. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jureda Chism Lambert, his sister Catherine L. Buttram and his brother Reid Lambert (Carolyn); his sons, Jim Lambert (Anne) of Monroeville, AL and Jon (Melissa) of Navarre, and his daughter Amanda L. Treesh, CPA (Jonathan) of Gulf Breeze. His grandchildren are Dee Lambert, Jayme Lambert, CPA (Stephanie), Terry Lambert (Samantha), Cana Lambert, Quina Lambert, Jon Lambert, Jr. (USAF), Jack Treesh and Thaxton Treesh. He has eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 12 noon, followed by a Memorial service at 1:00pm at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please send a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to the Salvation Army or GBUMC Adult Music Department.
