Jim played in the same musical group as my late husband, Malcolm Slifkin. He was a kind and compassionate man who found time to visit Malcolm during his long illness. Jim was a wonderful musician who delighted in playing the classics with his group. May his memory be a blessing.

I got to know and to admire Jim during my Westinghouse years five decades and more ago. He was a prime example of Gentleman and Scholar. Always willing and able to help. There was an atmosphere of calm and civility surrounding Jim. Goodbye, Jim, and thank you for the good memories.

My condolences to family. I sat in the same 2 man office as Jim for a number of years at the at the Westinghouse Research Center during the 1990s, when Jim was a consultant. I came to very much like and respect this briliant man. I never knew of an instance where he was wrong or arrogant. His work and his insights were greatly respected among a community of experts. It a lessor world without Jim.
