Mary Peterson Obituary

PETERSON, MARY LANCE Providence, RI, June 26, 2014. Longtime resident of Southampton, NY and Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard. Graduate of Grinnell College and Case Western Reserve. Dedicated her life to education, serving in various roles, at Southampton Nursery School, the Hampton Day School, Lake Erie College, Pembroke College, and as Dean of Students, among other roles, at Southampton College, Long Island University. Lifetime member of the NAACP. Longtime supporter of the arts community. Beloved wife of William Moore Peterson, mother of James Peterson (Sharon Reif) and Thomas Peterson (Dorothy), and grandmother of Catherine Peterson. Memorial service to be held at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Providence, RI, on November 1, 2014, 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an education or arts mission of your choice.
