I just learned of John's death while reading Res Gestae, published by the University of Utah College of Law. John and I were classmates, graduating in 1966. While we never saw each other again after graduation since I left for Chicago, we managed to keep in touch through Christmas cards and the occasional email. I want to extend my sincere condolences to John's family and friends on their loss

The news of John's death was heartbreaking. George and John's friendship goes back to Kindergarten. We cherish the shared good times over many years. John was kind, caring, fun-loving, intelligent and fair. There was always a little gleam in his eye, hinting he knew something we didn't know. He perfected the art of slalom-skiing behind his boat on beloved Flaming Gorge. Those Christmas card photos are priceless - and have been saved.

We are so proud of John's accomplishments, and honored to have been part of his life. He was one-of-a-kind, and will never be forgotten.

Lynda, we look forward to continuing our friendship with you and family.

With deepest sympathy,

Kim & Bob (& Colleen Thompson) Barton

What a great man, he will be talked about for years to come by many people in the Uintah Basin.

February 2, 2016

It saddens me to hear of the passing of a good man and friend. I served as a police officer in the Uintah Basin, retired in 2011 and had an opportunity to work with (Judge)John Anderson for the better part of my career. A stern but caring professional who was always looking to provide the best decision for anyone who appeared before him. Away from the bench, you would not find a more personable person. I would like to say thank you for your service in the judicial system and the influence you had on me. I have a lot of great memories my friend, and I will miss you. My deepest condolences to your wife Lynda and your family.
