Desmond Peckham Obituary

Desmond Gerald Peckham, age 80, passed away December 26, 2017 in West Jordan, Utah. Gerald was the first of seven children born to Desmond Charles and Louise Boulter Peckham on September 10, 1937. He married Jeanette Marie Williams in 1960. They had two children, Cindy and Shawn.
Gerald worked hard his whole life, while working for Hercules he also ran his own business "Peckham Custom Welding". Dad's favorite past time was walking to find new treasures, spending time with friends, and bending your ear with a story. He was always up for a new adventure so as time went by he had great stories to tell. His favorite obsession was trees. He planted over 100 trees at his cabin, and a two-acre Christmas Tree farm in Washington. He planted more varieties of trees than I can name.
Gerald is survived by his daughters Cindy (Bill) Nielson and Kathy Peckham-Gray; sisters Raelene Beckstrom, Joyce Greco, Diana Tanner and Penny Tupper; grandchildren Bryant (Lori) Shepherd, Lindsay Peckham, Bruce (Alana) Peckham, Annie (Victor) Peckham-Rubalcava, Haley Peckham, Robbin Nielson and Billy Nielson; 14 great grandchildren, along with sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanette; son Shawn; parents; and brothers Royce and James Peckham.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 30th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Sunset Ridge 2nd Ward, 8137 S. Echo View Dr., West Jordan. Graveside service to follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 S. Dimple Dell Rd (10600 S.), Sandy. To offer online condolences please visit www.larkincares.com.

Blessings to your family. This time of year can be so difficult. Please know that Desmond was a treasured friend in Sequim. He was so punctual we could almost set our clocks to herald his return to Sequim in the spring. He would make his rounds regaling us w stories from his winter. Before you knew it, he had a garden in and was setting up for a sale. Then poof, it was fall and time to head south. ...and so it went. We still miss him and find ourselves looking up the road with expectation.

Desmond was one of the first people I met when I moved to Sequim. He was a character and truly did have stories galore. He loved his little dog Patches who would go everywhere with him. Desmond would come around to my house or my friend Carl's house to check in our latest projects and offer opinions and gentle ribbing. When he would pack up to head south in the fall, we knew that winter was around the corner and in the spring we would start to worry if he was late returning. Desmond will certainly be missed and we offer our sincere condolences to his family.
