Robert Mooney Obituary

Robert (Bob) J. Mooney

Born: August 31, 1931

Died: December 14, 2013

Longtime Seattle resident and business man Bob Mooney, passed away after a short illness on December 14, 2013 in Chiang Mai, Thailand. For the last 10 years, Bob split his time living in the Northwest and Thailand. Referring to himself as a "farm boy from Omaha", Nebraska, Bob's influential Seattle career spanned six decades in public accounting, investment banking, business and expert witness consulting. He worked twenty-eight years at Touche Ross & Co where he was a Regional Tax Partner and a member of the firm's Tax Policy Committee. There he consulted on technical and structural aspects of merger, buy-out and purchase and sale transactions, including NFL sports franchise feasibility and valuation studies such as the Seattle Seahawks expansion franchise in 1976. He served as a member of the Executive Committee of the United Way of King County (1980), Board Member of Big Brothers of King County (1977-1981), Member of the Board of Directors of the Seattle Downtown Rotary (1978-1979) and Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee for the San Diego Chamber of Commerce (late 1960's). He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Loren and Jane Mooney, daughter Kristi Otti, grandson AJ Otti and his beloved companion Somporn Sitthiwong. Bob's intelligent conversation and wit will be missed by all.

I met Bob thru my parents. He was their tax accountant for many years at Touche. He helped direct the purchase of our orchard which we have been farming for 32 years. Bob was always welcome in dealing with my parents, Tex and Jane Boullioun. I also worked with Bob and Mike Jackson at the green house business building green houses. He was always willing to do anything, with his farm bou background. He was a pleasure to know
