Michael Kent Obituary

Michael Douglas KENT 1937 ~ 2009 Michael Douglas Kent born December 10, 1937, retired his 'Honey-Do-List' November 30, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Wisconsin and moved to the Northwest at the age of 5, Mike lived in Seattle, Bellevue, Mercer Island, Edmonds and finally in Woodway. He graduated from Bellevue High, and then received a Business Degree from the University of Washington. He worked in finance at the Bon Marche and retired from The Seattle Times. Michael was known for his passions of life, family, friends, gardening, wine, great Italian food and mostly for his beloved "Porsche Baby," an Irish green 1965, 356 Porsche Cabriolet. Mike painstakingly restored, washed, waxed, paraded and proudly drove all around the United States showing 'her' at significant Porsche events. The final drive was at Pebble Beach, driving laps on Laguna Secaracetrack at this year's Monterey Historical Races with Bernice, his marvelous wife, as hisco-pilot! This was a driving highlight for both! Michael and Bernice were consummate travelers, always 'on-the move' to destinations all over the country and wintered-over in Mexico and the Hawaiian Islands. He also enjoy the local sport scene supporting, the Mariners, Seahawks, Sounders, Huskies and the late Sonics. Michael leaves his family, wife Aimee Bernice, daughter Andrea, son Sean, as well as Todd & Jodi Petersen and Troy & Iska Petersen. His grand children, Danielle & Jessica, and Chelanne & Tanner. Preceded in death by his parents John & Louise Kent. Michael will always be remembered for his honesty, fair play, integrity, adventure, passions, a sense of humor and his wonderful smile! He was a great guy!!!! A celebration of his life will be held this Spring in the garden he lovingly created and tended with Bernice. Donations may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Washington Chapter, 530 Dexter Ave. North, Seattle, WA 98109.

Mike, I cannot believe I will never see your sparkling blue eyes or hear your laugh again! God must have thought heaven needed more laughter. You were the best boss I ever worked for. Kind, honest, supportive, someone I admired, respected and would have followed anywhere. Always the knight on the shining white horse. Always principle driven, with integrity, honesty and unquestionable ethics. You taught me a lot, gave me support and encouragement and made fighting the good fight fun. Together you and Bernice were a shining golden couple full of laughter and sunlight. Both Chuck and I adored the two of you.

The world may be a tad bit duller now that you are gone. I know that you and Chuck are watching over us with smiles on your faces. I will miss you, Mikey.
