Robert Firing Obituary

Robert W. Firing, formerly of North Easton and Delray Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully Nov. 25, 2011, at age 84. He was the devoted husband of Barbara M. Firing for 61 years. Bob was born in Brockton, and after serving in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Bridgewater State College. He retired from a teaching and guidance career at Brockton High School in 1989. He loved camping trips with his family, choral singing, and working around the house. He was also a member of the Paul Dean Masonic Lodge of Easton and the Mayflower Society. He and Barbara spent 20 years of retirement in Delray Beach, Fla., where they were members of the Cason United Methodist Church. They enjoyed cruises and trips with friends in the church and condominium community. Last year they moved back to Taunton, to be closer to their children. Bob will be remembered for his take-charge attitude and his proverbial sayings. Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara; and sisters, Connie Erickson and Roberta Squires. He is also survived by his daughters, Julie Danahy and her husband Mike of Carver, Vicki Scott and her husband Doug of Milford, N.H., Patti Firing of North Easton; his son, Jeff Firing and his wife Anna of Raynham; his loving grandchildren; and other family and close friends. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m., at Christ Community Church, 518 Middleboro Ave., East Taunton. Burial will be private.

I was sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I worked in the Yellow Guidance office with him for many years. Although I was the young, liberal social worker, the old veteran put up with me being in the next office along with a steady stream of sad or angry students. He would often just look at me and shake his head.
I asked him for information, advice, and a few favors over those years and he never refused one request.
He will be in my thoughts and prayers as will his family.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Firing's passing. He was a good friend to my parents and a great help to me at BHS after my mom died. Praying for the Firing/Erickson family - God Bless.

Vicki, my prayers are offered for you and your family that you find comfort in His Grace during this time after the passing of your Dad from this world into heaven. I remember Mr Firing fondly from my years at Brockton High.
