John Patchen

1937 - 2015

John J. Patchen, age 78, of Norwalk, died peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital after a long illness on Friday, December 18. He was the husband for 56 years of Marie (Antoinette) Passarelli Patchen. John was born in Norwalk on January 16, 1937, the son of the late James J. Patchen, Sr. and Elvira Tuozzola Patchen and has lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Fairfield Prep, Class of 1955, and Fairfield University, Class of 1959. He was a self-employed independent Title Examiner. John enjoyed sports, reading, music, animals and loved his family. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children Joseph J. Patchen of Milford and Donna M. Patchen of Norwalk; his brother James Patchen and his wife Sherry of Southbury; his sister Shirley Taylor of Fairfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 23 at 10 am at St. Philip Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Pl., Norwalk, with entombment to follow at St. John Cemetery. John’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk TODAY, Tuesday, December 22, from 4 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.org), The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org), or to a local animal shelter.
