William Purcell Obituary

William F. Purcell of Bucks County passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 at Ann's Choice. He was a good 87.

He was born in Teaneck, N.J. to Edward and Margaret Purcell. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Ruth Hecht Purcell. They raised their family in Paramus, N.J. before moving to Pennsylvania.

Bill served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bennington and the USS Coral Seas during the Korean War. He had a robust career in electrical engineering. After retiring, he lead a busy and active life.

He is survived by his children: son, William Purcell Jr. and his partner, David Cohen, of North Port, Fla., son, Mark Purcell and his wife, Jackie, of Bedminster, Pa., daughter, Lisa Noone and her husband, Frank, of Perkasie, Pa., and daughter, Laura DiNardo and her husband, Stephen, of Pipersville, Pa. He cherished his nine grandchildren: Austin Naids and his fiancée, Ashley MacDougal, Alecia Purcell, Courtney Purcell, Elizabeth Noone, Sarah Noone and her husband, Gunther Nugent, Christopher Noone, Kristen Slaymaker and her husband, Andrew, Justin DiNardo, Katherine DiNardo, and one great grandson, Rory.

For Bill, his greatest joys were sharing a meal and lively conversation, especially with his grandchildren, up until his very last days. Through the years his words to us "sit tight.... I'll be there" were an assurance and a testimony to the father and grandfather we so dearly love. He cherished us; we cherished him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.

Rest easy, Dad.
