Steve Shuper Obituary

Steve SHUPER

Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the age of 73, with his mother Maria (94) and wife of 47 years, Olga, by his side. Loving father of Mark (Winnie), Paul (Cindy) and Katherine and devoted grandfather of Anya, Mattias, Jack and Grace. Predeceased by his brother Michael, niece Michelle and father John. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends spanning the different stages of his life: PLAST and Ukrainian school; Harbord Collegiate; University of Toronto Engineering; IBM and Centron; as well as his golfing, soccer, hockey and sports coaching buddies. His wife and children are especially grateful to his family and friends who spent so much time with him in his final months. Over the course of Steve's near three-decade long career in tech sales, his performance earned him not only awards but more importantly the wonderful trips he enjoyed to so many parts of the world. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on the renal team at St. Joseph's Health Centre. A memorial service will be held at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 La Rose Ave., Etobicoke, on Friday, January 13th at 10:30 a.m. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Dialysis Fund through the St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation by calling 416-530-6704.

Our heartfelt condolences to Olga, Mark (Winnie), Paul (Cindy), Katherine, Steve's mother, the grandchildren, Anya, Mattias, Jack, Grace and the entire Shuper family.
I have been blessed to know Olga, Steve and their amazing children, when they were children. Over the decades Olga, Steve and their family have become more than dear friends. They became family - for this I will always be thankful. I will greatly miss our visits and to see Steve's enthusiasm at our arrival. He beamed brightest when he spoke about his precious grandchildren. Our loving thoughts and prayers are with Olga, and her extraordinary family, at this difficult time.

Our sincere condolences go out to Steve's family at this sad event. We always enjoyed our visits with Steve and his wife Olga. They were always so wonderful- very warm, generous and gracious people. Steve was a very kind, interesting, and thoughtful person; he was always willing to help others. He loved travel, golf, and talking about the politics of the day- but most of all, he loved his wonderful family. If there was any person in the world that I could pick as a friend, it would be Steve for he has all the great qualities that we look for in a man; he is the epitome of what we desire in friendship. He will be sorely missed. May the good Lord bless him and keep him. "The boast of heraldry, the pomp of power, and all that beauty, all that wealth ever gave, awaits alike the inevitable hour; the paths of glory lead but to the grave." Rest in peace, my good friend.

I'll forever remember Steve's hearty laugh. He was a prince of a man and a good friend inside and outside of IBM. Terrible golf swing though. Have had the pleasure of interacting with Mark, Paul and Katherine over the years. Steve's legacy is in good hands. My deepest sympathy to Olga and the family. ..Frank

I enjoyed working with Steve for many years, both in the M&D Branch and as a support person in the Region Office. He was professional in all that he did and it was a pleasure to be involved with him in his technical and marketing activities, since they were highly successful. "Them were the days".

May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.

Thinking of you with love and deepest sympathy. Steve sat around the corner from me in the M&D branch all those years ago. He must have been a rookie then. Rest in peace, Steve.
