Thomas White Obituary

SOUTH BARRE - Tom White passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016. He was born on May 30, 1949, in Randolph, Vermont, the son of Robert T. and Leila E. (Wallace) White. Tom attended Hartford Elementary and Hartford High School (class of 1967). Later he graduated from North Hampton College in 1969 with a degree in accounting.
On Sept. 12, 1970, he married Sherry Goss, who was his high school sweetheart. They were married in White River Junction and made their home in Barre, Vermont.
Tom was an active member of the Barre Fish and Game Club for over 36 years and a Vermont hunter education instructor for over 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, being at camp, watching NASCAR, Thunder Road racing and just being outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed "Parker Day," teasing his "two boys," and visiting his other grandchildren in Georgia, all of whom always warmed his heart. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, which at times irritated his wife, but that never stopped him.
He leaves behind his wife, Sherry, of 46 years and their three children: A daughter, Kristina Oliver, her husband, Mitch, of Georgia, and their sons, both of Barre Town; Tommy White and his wife, Katie; and Joey White and his wife, Sara; his five grandchildren: Natalie, Madison, Chloe, Brandon, and Parker; his mother-in-law, Sachiko Drown, of Williamstown; his sisters Betty Clermont, of Berlin, and Diana Tuthill and her husband, Bruce, of West Hartford; sister-in-law Janet Boucher and her significant other, David; many nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as lifelong friends Paul Remick and Ed Smith.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Robert White, sister-in-law, Janice, and sisters Donna Conrad and Ramona White.
In honor of Tom's request, there will be a celebration of life on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at noon at the Barre Fish and Game Club. He wanted a true celebration of life and everyone is asked to bring a memory to share.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Barre Fish and Game Club, P.O. Box 130, Barre, VT 05641.

My thoughts are with you all. Tom was an amazing asset to my dad's sawmill business and he always had a kind word for us as kids while we tromped around his house and yard. He will be sorely missed.

Tom was always a very special person. He was like a brother to me. He was always smiling even when he didn't feel well. His family was his life as he loved them dearly. I am so happy that I can say he was my friend. My heart goes out to the family and my thoughts and prayers are with them. I will always cherish my memories of Tom.
