David Houston Obituary

Dave passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at Royal Jubilee Hospital of kidney failure. With him in his final hours were his beloved daughter Mary and his friend and partner through everything, Liane Cady, and his close friend Robin. Dave leaves behind his daughter Mary, Liane, his sister Donna (Paul, Leah and Ben). Dave was predeceased by his wonderful parents Pat and Don Houston. Dave practiced law at Crease Harman in Victoria, B.C., from the time of passing the bar to his semi-retirement this spring/summer (2014). Dave was a skilled and ethical lawyer who earned great respect in his profession. He will be remembered by close friends for those colourful and shocking remarks that only he could get away with, his wonderful cooking, his way with horses and his bags of apples and the simple enjoyment he had being at the farm relaxing and watching his daughter ride Gigi. Foremost, he will be remembered for his unbelievable love for his daughter, his pride and joy, and a love reciprocated. A Celebration of Life will be held in January. We will miss him.

My deepest condolences to Mary on the unexpected passing of her father. During Mary's three years at Monterey Middle School David was an outstanding parent and volunteer. He drove for every field trip and Mary could call him at the last minute for anything (classroom treats, driving, a forgotten lunch) and he would always try his best to accommodate the request. It was easy to see his devotion to Mary and their strong bond. David was a kind man and wonderful father. My sympathies to Mary, his family and friends.

Our family remembers, with immense gratitude, the kindness and support that David and Mary gave to my brother, Rod, during his last days in hospital in Victoria. We remember David with great fondness and extend our deepest sympathy to Mary and David's friends and family.

Deepest sympathy, we became very close to Dave and miss him everyday, he shall always be in our hearts, Liane and Mary will always have our love and support.
