William Nash Obituary

NASH, WILLIAM WATERVLIET - William D. Nash, 78, "Uncle Boodie", died peacefully Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Troy on July 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Ambrose and Helen Anglum Nash. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy and Siena College in Loudonville. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He resided in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, Becket and Sturbridge, MA and retired to the Berkshires where he lived for 20 years. He has resided in Watervliet for the past 14 years. He was employed as an accountant for the Bendix Corporation in New Jersey and later was a founding partner of Galileo Electro Optics in Sturbridge, MA which was a groundbreaking company in the field of fiber optics technology. He retired in 1988 at the age of 52. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and loved their Maine vacations every year. He was the loving husband of Jean H. Halpin and the late Agnes Ann Fitzgerald Nash who died in 1996, Brother of Edward "Ned" (Theresa) Nash of Colonie, Ambrose (late Joan Ann) Nash of Troy, Grace (Joseph) Jones of Rochester, NY and Helen Mary (late Hank) White of Hamden, CT, Lifelong best buddy of the late Bill Halpin, Beloved "Uncle Boodie" of Marybeth (Fred) Snyder, Colleen Gardner, Sherry (Richard) Foglia, Ellen (John) Quinn, William J. Halpin, Jr., Joanne (Todd) Kiernan, Jeanne (Tom) Deguire, Julie (David) Lilenfeld and Amy (Matt) Riley. He is also survived by 18 adored grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:15 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 12 noon at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Geoffrey D. Burke, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144. Condolence book at www.ParkerBrosMemorial.com.

Sending my deepest sympathies to the Halpin family on the loss of your dear Uncle Boodie. I never knew he lived in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ at one point in his life...a couple towns over from me. He left a beautiful legacy behind him and I know he will be greatly missed.
