Dana LARSON Obituary

Died in his apartment on December 30, 2014 in St Paul, MN due to a heart attack. He was 62 years old. Dana was born on April 12, 1952 in Minneapolis, MN to Raeder and Sue Larson. He graduated from St Louis Park High School in 1970, Amherst College in 1974 and University of Denver Law School in the late 1970s. He subsequently passed the Colorado Bar. Dana is survived by his wife Sandy Yanez-Larson, and two sons - Dana C and Tyler. He is also survived by his Mom, Sue Larson and siblings, Jim (Jill), Rolfe (Peg and daughter Mariella), Lee (Jose and daughter Oliviana) and Judd (Monica and daughter Maya). He is also survived by the many people he came in contact over his journey of life: Working at DeGigido's Restaurant on West 7th Street in St Paul, working at Bakers Square in St Paul, driving a School Bus with rowdy kids that he always enjoyed bantering with, working with the accounting for the Baseball Teams of West St Paul. Dana will be cremated, as per his wishes. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Monday, January 5th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and A Time of Sharing taking place at 2:45 PM at Simple Traditions by Bradshaw at 488 Humboldt Ave, St Paul, MN. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dana's life. Dana enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an excellent sportsman both in his physical abilities and his extensive knowledge of football, baseball, hockey, etc. He could pick up any sport within a matter of hours, and was one of the top Squash players in America in the early 1970s. He always tried to do what was best for everyone, and was always interested in other people. He would learn something from every conversation he had with anyone, including total strangers. It is with great sadness that we will pay our final respects to Dana, he may be missing from our family get togethers, he will never be missing from our hearts.

I was a classmate of Dana's at SLP High School. We shared a number of classes and I considered him a friend. He was a terrific guy then and I can see by the many touching tributes, he remained so through his adult life. I am saddened to learn of his passing and wish to share my deepest and most sincere condolences to his family. Goodbye my old friend. May peace be yours eternally.

My deepest sympathies to all the Larson clan. Although I am saddened by the loss of one of the great ones, I feel a sense of gratitude for having known him. One of my earliest memories (3 years old?) was of Dana playing with me in the back yard. His special way of treating me made me feel important, and let me know that I was somebody that really mattered. His ability to make people feel valuable has been a blueprint for my own treatment of others, especially children. I now claim 9 children as my own, since I have filled some holes where a proper dad was missing. All of these children have turned out well, attended college, and gone on to great success. I attribute their success to good role models, and positive treatment, using Dana's blueprint. Thus, Dana's legacy is now firmly entrenched in 9 more families, beyond his own. My thoughts are with you!

Jim, We are so sorry about the loss of your brother Dana who was so close to you in age and shared with you all the memories and experiences of growing up together in the Larson family. Our hearts go out to your mother; she has loved him longer than anyone else and will deeply grieve the loss of her wonderful and gifted son. We are sorry to miss the memorial for him, but we will be out of town. We are holding your family close at heart in thoughts and prayer.

Sandy, I was so sad to read of Dana's passing. I only spent time with him a few different times but remember what a nice man he was and what a great couple you made. May you and your children find peace as you move on knowing you will once again be reunited some day. Dana may not be with you physically but I'm certain he will be by your side spiritually and continuing to feel your everlasting love. Take care and God Bless.
Sincerely, Ruth Kirsch (DRB)
