Reverend Colin Lorne West

Colin West Obituary

WEST, Reverend Colin Lorne - It is with both sadness and a sense of peace that the family announces the passing of Colin, at the age of 85. Sadness at the loss of an incredible man loved deeply by so many, but peace in the knowledge that he is now with his Lord and Saviour. Colin was the beloved husband and best friend of Cathy for 62 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Peter and Lynn, Bonnie and Ken, and Stephen and Cathy. Cherished grandfather of Courtney (James), Matthew (Amber), Rebecca, Sarah (Randy), Christopher and Benjamin (Tasha). Great-grandfather to Ethan and Charlotte. Colin was an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada, who dedicated his life to bringing others into a personal relationship with Christ. Colin served as pastor of Centenary Methodist Church and Marsden Memorial Church from 1977 until he retired in 1986. He was a gifted artist, loved music and enjoyed travelling with Cathy. Colin lived a life built on integrity, faith, selflessness and later in life courage and perseverance in the face of great physical challenges. The family of Colin wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of the ICU at Ajax/Pickering Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care. A Celebration of Colin's life will be held at Forest Brook Community Church in Ajax, Ontario, on Friday, April 26th at 3 p.m.

I rejoice that he is with the Lord now. Of this I have no doubt as he is so devout and steadfast in his calling to bring others to God. Once when he was preaching, I saw an halo about his head and was not surprised, as Love was always flowing from him and around him. He gave so much of himself and I, for one, am ever grateful.
Much Love Always,

Dear West family, Your father preached at Collector's Hill Methodist in Bermuda and my parents were part of the congregation while in Bermuda, plus he spent some time with my Aunt Dorothy Outerbridge, at family get togethers at Braemar near Harrington Sound. May you find strength in all the wonderful memories you have of your time in Bermuda and Canada and all those who were parishoners who share in your sorrow today.

To Cathy and the West family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your bereavement.
We have many fond memories of Rev Collin as he taught us so much at Marsden and Centenary, how we worked together and shared the Gospel using Evangelism Explosion, and The Bethel Bible Series. There was always a spirit of cooperation and fellowship which continues to this day. His work was not in vain!
We also remember the trip to the Holy Land, led by Rev Collin. What an inspiring and rewarding time we had together as we shared the hymns of faith an viewed the places where Jesus was.

May the God of peace and comfort strengthen you now and in the days to come.
