Tracey Chatmon

Funeral Services for Ms. Tracey Chatmon of Albany will be held TODAY, Friday, October 7, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 903 South Westover Road, Albany, Georgia. Entombment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens.

Tracey Michelle Chatmon was born on March 13, 1965, in Albany GA, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Christopher Chatmon, Sr. and Alma Washington Chatmon. Tracey was the youngest of five children. Tracey was educated in the Dougherty County School System. She graduated from her beloved Monroe High School in 1983. She was an active member of her class and maintained many lifelong friendships amongst her classmates. Tracey also studied at Albany State College, where she particularly enjoyed Language Arts and Psychology courses. Tracey was a devoted member of Historic Bethel AME Church. She enjoyed worship service and fellowship with her church family. Tracey began her professional life at SOWEGA Council on Aging. There, she contributed greatly to the community she served. Later, Tracey joined the family business," Chatmon's Beauty Supply". She worked at the Slappey Street location where she was a scheduler for the hair salon as well as the store receptionist. She always enjoyed interacting with customers and co-workers. One of Tracey's passions was popular music. Among her favorite artists were Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Sade and of course Prince. Another passion was fashion. She dressed with flair, always sporting stylish clothing and accessories.

Tracey's zest for life was palpable, and her beautiful smile, infectious. She loved her family and friends deeply. She developed close relationships with her nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were her own. She continued the tradition started by our mother of sending birthday cards and gifts to each of her siblings, and all of her nieces and nephews, every year, without fail. Tracey embraced life's challenges with grace. Her infinite bond with our mother is unique and unbreakable. Tracey entered eternal rest Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Those remembering: Four adoring siblings, Christa Cheryl Ellis, Patrician Ann Perryman, Pamela Deidre Washington of Atlanta, GA; Thomas C. (Brenetta) Chatmon, Jr. of Orlando, FL. Seven phenomenal nieces and nephews, Yvonne Marie Austin, Dr. Tasha Nicole Ellis, Corey Christopher Chatmon, Dr. Simeon Onu (Chioma) Udunka, Brittany Michelle Chatmon, Harold Christopher Washington III, and Nigel Jarrett Washington, and a host of exceptional great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
