Christopher Morrissey Obituary
AGE: 20 • Howell
Christopher James Morrissey, 20, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011, in Maryland, where he was a junior attending the University of Maryland. Chris was born in Secaucus and lived his wonderful years growing up in Howell.
Chris is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Robert "Pop Pop" Morrissey; his special "Aunt Judy, Aunt Helen and Uncle Steve". Chris is survived by his loving parents, Joni and Rob; and cherished younger brother, Nicholas. Chris was, and always will be Nick's hero. He also leaves behind his loving grandmothers, Carol Morrissey and Christine Sozzani; great-grandmother, Dorothy "Ya Ya" Kostantenaco; and his favorite Aunt and Godmother, Lynn, Uncle Tom, Uncle Dan, Aunt Regina, Uncle Joey, Aunt Barbra, Uncle Bobby, Ofelia Flores, Uncle Steve & Aunt Linda; his cousins who all looked up to him, Talysa, Ariana, Cara-Lyn, D. J., Keely, Cynthia and Vincent, all of whom will sorely miss him. Other survivors include his loving adopted 'families', the Paglino's, the Vartan's, and cousins, the "Texas Clan" whom will forever keep Chris in their hearts. Chris loved his "Sasha" and his "Cody Parker" dearly. The love and admiration from his many friends will endure forever.
Chris was a handsome, intelligent, young man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was loyal with a deep commitment to his family and friends. Chris spent his formative years in the Ramtown schools, where he excelled in academics and his love of Howell South Little League Baseball and basketball. Later during high school, he umpired for his Little League. Chris went on to St. Rose High School in Belmar, where he left his indelible mark. He excelled in both academics and sports - mastering challenging classes, while playing baseball and basketball. Chris was an ambassador at the school. He was involved in a number of activities at school while always making time for his family and friends. He was a dynamic force and positive role model. Chris graduated from St. Rose at the top of his class. He went to the University of Maryland, where he excelled as a gifted honors student, while developing wonderful new friendships. Chris takes a piece of all of our hearts with him.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9 and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11 at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Christopher J. I continue to be impacted by the way to early in life passing of Christopher. As his most grateful teacher, his exemplary dedication to becoming the best in whatever he undertook, has left a very beautiful memory in my heart. Christopher was a wonderfully talented, amazingly gifted young man. As a fourth grader, he excelled in academics and will always be remembered by me as an outstanding dancer for our shows at the Howell Senior Center. The knowledge he displayed as an avid fan of the show "Jeopardy", will always leave me believing what a formidable opponent he might have been if selected as a contestant on that program. Christopher has been missed by many and gratefully his legacy lives on through the wonderful foundation his family has established in his name.

Christopher was a teacher's joy and was always eager to excel in whatever he undertook, be it in academics, sports, his nightly self competitions with "Jeopardy", chorus, and close to my heart, our country dancing. Chris had a consistently upbeat personality. He has been sorely missed. God Bless his loving family-Joni, Rob and Nick-and their friends, who have kept Chris' legacy alive through their amazing foundation.

Chris was and still is my best friend forever. no one can ever replace him. i have so many memories with him i dont even know where to start. We would wake up and chill all day intill night and even then we would sleepover each others house and be up till 4 in the morning. With other friends i might get bored after a few hour. I cant remember i time ever that i was bored with Chris, he just made life so much fun. Playing maypink baseball and football, supersmash bros, chillin at the alley. there is so much we did together. Chris family is like a 2nd home to me, they would treat me like i was one of the kids. This really couldn't of happened to a nicer family. Rob would always be so funny and hang watching the games with us. Joni is the strongest most caring women i know shes always taking us places plus making the GREATEST food ever. i will never forget what Chris and his family did for me i love all of them so much i cant even describe. Rob, Joni, Nick, I can't believe this has happened. I remember the little league days with Kevin playing baseball with Chris and growing up in Howell. My prayers are with you.
