I would like to extend my sympathy and prayers to Joyce's family. I met Joyce through our friend Cheryl and we use to hang out sometimes. When my son, Kristopher, attended Grove Park Pre-K many years ago, I could always be assured that Joyce was looking out for him. Joyce was a fun person to be around and she will be missed.

Since my mom, Ms Farley's career as a paraprofessional at Grove Park Elementary School, I've known Ms. Smith to be the "life and the "joy" of the faculty, staff, and the students. When I visited Grove Park on numerous occasions, her classroom was the one and only class I made sure I visited. As she affectionately nicknamed me "big hips", and my daughter Kannaria "'lil hips" I will always remember that brilliant smile and priceless sense of humor that she possessed. She was and forever will be a blessing and a wonder because of her impact on so many people's lives. I can truly say that just from my relationship with her, she was practically the best instructor in her area of work. Needless to say, she will be missed by many, but the Grove Park family will endure a tremendous healing process as a result to losing one of God's sweetest spirits he allowed time here on earth. I thank God for having known her and to have been in her presence. I love you, Ms. Smith and I will always remember you! She'd be so mad if she knew I was takin' up so much space babbling about her!!!!!!!!!!!You know how she is!I could just hear her now!

I met Ms. Joyce E. Smith, in 1996. My first year as a para at Grove Park Elem. I worked in P.E.C., part time. She taught me so much while I was there. When I got hired full time in 1998 I was moved to kindergarten. She took me under her wings as her oldest daughter. We all stayed at Wal-Mart after work, my mom, Ms. Smith and me, we had so much fun.It felt good to have 2 moms to hangout with and love. My children loved her to also. She was a very out spoken person just like my mom. Ms. Smith was always there for me and my family. When my mom passed in 2003, she kept me encouraged along with the other paraprofessionals at Grove Park, we called ourselves the L.G.P (Ladies of Grove Park) we all are so close. Even when I went to another school to work, we still keep in touch. I will miss her so much, it is so hard to except that I have lost yet another mom. Now they both can sit around and talk about old times. I will miss picking up the phone and hanging out with her. I will always love you and I miss will you so much, mom! To the family stay encourage, God has your back. I know it is hard, but keep the faith.

P.S. You're in my thoughts and prayers too.

Ms. Joyce E. Smith I met you at Grove Park Elementary School in 2003 when I started to work. You took me in as one of your daughters. I will truely miss you from the bottom of my heart. You was always there for me to talk to and to hang around with. I will truely miss picking you up, going places with you and talking to you on the phone. We have always had some good days together even until the end. My last day of seeing you and talking to you was Saturday, March 5, 2006 at about 12noon when I walked out your door. Right know it is very hard for me to except that you are gone so fast. I love you and miss you mama.
