David Swift Obituary
Our hearts broke Saturday, December 3, 2011 when God took one of his children home. David Taylor Swift was born May 21, 1993 to Earl and Rachel (Bouma) Swift. David's love of life was contagious as is shown with his many friends and all the lives he touched. David's work ethic at such a young age was an amazement by all who knew him. He could fix anything and was called by others frequently for help. David graduated in June from Nooksack Valley High School and was joining the Air Force to become a pilot in the spring. He was a valued employee of DNA Contractors; who wish they could have 10 Davids.
David will be missed terribly by his parents; brothers: Jon & Michael; sisters: Dyan, Anika and John Hildebrand, Megen, & Becky; nephew Derek and nieces Mylayla, Dakota, and Emily. Grandfather: Peter Bouma. His girlfriend Malia Dykes and her family; his aunts, uncles and numerous cousins; and by more friends than you can count. We have all been blessed to have had you in our life.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 7, 5 to 7 pm at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 9, 4:00 pm at Nooksack Valley High School Auditorium, 3326 E. Badger Rd., Everson. Memorials may be made to: The David Swift Benefit Fund at any Peoples Bank branch locations. You may share your memories and condolences in the online guest book at

David was a great guy, and I feel so deeply for the family, especially his dear parents and siblings. My heart goes to Malia and Michael, who introduced me to David in the first place. Stay strong, and love eachother.

Swifty we had alot of great memories in drivers ed. and all throughout high school. My thoughts and prayers are deeply going out to the Swift and Dykes families. David was one of a kind and could always put a smile on your face or pick you up when u felt hopeless, everybody misses you so much bro but we all be together again someday...We all love you!!..RIP Swifty!
