Lois Johannes Obituary

Lois Johannes

UNDERWOOD - Lois Johannes, 85, Underwood, died July 16, 2006, at Prairieview Nursing Home, Underwood. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at McCabe Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Art Scanson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.

Lois Muriel Koenig was born Sept. 20, 1920, at Underwood, the daughter to Fred and Bertha (Harris) Koenig. She attended elementary school in Underwood and graduated from Underwood High School. She married Iver Johannes on Aug. 30, 1941, and from this union were born two sons and one daughter. Lois remained home to care for her children and instill her strong faith and Christian values. After many moves and relocations, Lois made her home in Bismarck, in 1988. She was an active member of the McCabe Methodist Church and enjoyed the many friendships she made through the church.

Lois will be remembered for her grounded faith in God and her desire to serve. Her declining health required her to move to the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in 2003. In February 2005, she became a resident of Prairieview Nursing Home, Underwood. She was very appreciative of the wonderful care she received while residing at the nursing home.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane (Bryon) Dockter, Prior Lake, Minn.; two sons, Stan (Mary Jean) Johannes, Spooner, Wis., and Dan (LouRae) Johannes, Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Julie, Mike, Aaron, Ben, Jeremy, Tyler and Lindsay; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Johnson, Bismarck, Lillian ("Solly") Soliday, Usk, Wash., and Enid Mummert, Seattle; one brother, Doyle Koenig, Garrison; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Koenig, Las Vegas, and Rose Koenig, Underwood; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant sister, Emerald; and two brothers, Leroy and Melvin Koenig.

Grandma J.

Both my 3 and 6 year old have asked many questions about you in the past 2 days and some hard to answer. I told them how lucky they were to have a grandma in Spooner and one within 30 minutes. Even though there were many miles between us, we always felt your love. Thanks for being such a wonderful person and thanks for blessing us with a Dad that is just as wonderful and a great role model! We'll miss you Grandma! Love your grandson Mike!
