JAMES NAPOLITANO Obituary

NAPOLITANO, James Michael Treasured Husband, Father, Teacher and True Brother Born for Times of Distress. Proverbs 17:17 Age 83, passed away on February 5, 2021. He was the cherished son of the late Liberato and Mary Evelyn (O'Hara) Napolitano. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Jessie (Davis); and his loving daughter, Mary-Margaret. Raised in Boston in the 1940's and 50's, Jim had a passion for trains, jazz, baseball, and his own musical talents as a drummer. While working as a Linotype operator for the Record American Newspaper, Jim was asked a simple question by the parking attendant, Fred Hawes, a faithful member of the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, "Do you think God has a purpose for us?" A sincere study of the Scriptures ensued and Jim dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized in November, 1957. He discovered his natural gift for studying the original languages of the Bible, namely Hebrew, Latin & Greek, enriching his ministry and service to God. Jim and Jessie married in December, 1959 and together, they shared Bible truth with many in the Boston/Brighton area. In 1971, they volunteered as full-time ministers at the World Headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses in Brooklyn, NY. Returning to Boston in 1981 with their new baby girl Mary-Margaret, Jim worked for many years in courtroom stenography and transcription. As he would say, "When you've got food on the table, a roof over your head and the chance to worship God, a guy can't ask for much more." He could often be found in deep thought, pouring over an ancient manuscript in the Boston Public Library. He had a remarkable ability in using the scriptures to help people face challenges in their lives. In doing so, he taught them how to recognize their own growing faith. He welcomed the computer and technology age and was always available to assist others in keeping their setups in functional order. He was most generous with everything he had and all who knew him were extremely blessed. In the final days of his long and valiantly fought battle with Parkinson's Syndrome and Metastatic Prostate Cancer he never lost hope in God's promise. Jim also leaves his sister-in-law, Joanne and her husband Kenny Beauregard; cousins, Arthur, Janet, Michael & Scottie Napolitano, Mary-Sue Capozza, & Connie Dunn; and nieces and nephews, Kenneth, Brian, Michelle, Rachel & Joel. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Margaret Ross, and 4 uncles. In lieu of flowers, please visit JW.ORG to explore articles and videos featuring gems of the Bible.

I missed out but only for the moment. Life is always in a rush. I was happy to at least get a chance to read something more about dear Jim. He appears to be a brother much like 'Daniel' a precious one in Jehovah's eyes. Someday soon I look forward to seeing Jim when his health returns and thank him again for his helping me with Hebrew. I am a slow learner but have enjoyed what I can absorb. What a busy life Jim had according to those words penned above. I wrote Jim back in the late 90s and only now noticed he is in the sleeping car heading for the new system. See you again my brother - ,

I will always remember his insightful words and encouragement. Jehovah will never forget the love he showed for His name over many decades and the many hours of shepherding His flock with tenderness and compassion. (Hebrews 6:10)" ...For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name by ministering and continuing to minister to the holy ones.:

I have fond memories of Bro Napolitano and family at the Kingdom Hall on St Botolph St. His towering presence, insightful comments, and hospitality are pleasantly remembered. Much love during this difficult time!

The photo shown was taken around 1970. Jim gave a talk in our congregation and you ate with us after the meeting. May Jehovah comfort you at this time. My dad passed away recently as well so we are also mourning the loss of a loved one.

Jim was my friend and music lover buddy. A bunch of guys hung around the Back Bay Area. We called him Nap or Nappy. We all liked him and did some crazy things as teenagers, and some how we stayed out of trouble and had fun. A few years ago i went back to Boston to visit my brother, and stopped by to share some memories with Nap and Paul Grey.It was only for a few hours but what a great time we had, listening to some jazz and remembering times past. It’s hard when you lose a friend, but you have those memories. Someone once said, “ Memories are like rose’s in December “
