Not sure what to say?

I was a young and crazy college kid living for the summer with some girlfriends in a house in West Somerville that happened to be next door to the wonderful O'Rourke family. Just came across Dick's obituary today, though he's been gone ten years. I have such fond memories of Dick and Dolly and all the kids. Although many years have past since that summer of 1969, I never forgot the warmth and love and fun shared with me by this family. Condolences on the loss of a special man.

My Mom just told me the sad news of Dicky's passing. Some of my early and fond childhood memories are around the O'Rourke's kitchen table and having the O'Rourke's out to Billerica to swim in the pool. I remember looking forward to Christmas Eve every year too. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Dolly and Family.

With Love,
Karen Girouard (Albergo)

My late father and Danny O'rourke were lifelong best friends so i had heard many stories about Dickie before meeting him. We worked together at NET for many years and had lots to talk about. Dick was a very knowledgeable, friendly guy who always left you feeling better after seeing him. Very Sorry for this loss.

Dick,
You always had something funny to say and you were a welcoming soul. I'll miss seeing you on Christmas Eve and seeing Katy cringe to all of your inappropriate jokes. I'll remember you speaking fondly about your kids growing up and remarking about how lucky you were to have Dolly (you were). RIP Dick!

He will always be "the ambassador" of Fitness First to me. A great man, funny man, father figure and role model. Many thoughts and prayers to Eileen and the family.

Dear Dolly and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Dickie's passing although we knew he hasn't been well for quite some time. I was just talking to Ken and we shared many fond memories of your visits to PEI. Dickie gave us so many laughs and made reunions a lot of fun! He was quite a Charismatic guy- full of personality!!! Our prayers are with you as you pray your goodbyes and share the memories. Those grandchildren need to know the stories of their grandfather!!! Wishing you peace and comfort during the wake and funeral and in the days ahead!

All the talk about "breaking the mold" certainly applies to Dickie. He was about as charismatic and funny a person as you could find, and also a kind and loyal soul who was completely devoted to family and friends, and who really was larger than life. Condolences certainly go out to my good friend Rich and everyone in the family as well as the scores of people whose lives he touched.
