Billy was an old buddy of mine while we were just kids growing up in "Old Harbor" more than 30 years ago. I don't think I saw him more than twice since. But I will never forget him. For me, Billy always stood out among the roughness of the neighborhood. He had a wonderful demeanor; always friendly,always kind and not a mean bone in his body.
I know you miss him so much. But take comfort knowing that someday you will be with him again in that next life.

Well Billy last night was the fundraiser in your honor! All I can say is that you were truley loved and respected. Everyone turned out to honor you! It was a celabration of your life!

To the Flaherty Family;
How do you sum up in a few sentences the kind of man Billy is and was. I was lucky enough to meet and work with him as a Public Safety Officer for the past 5 years. He was always kind, always would listen, and never got mad when I would ask a stupid question. We have definitely lost one of the best officers, friends, and human being. I will never forget his wonderful smiling face early in the morning at roll call or his good-natured approach to life. God definitely picked the best guardian angel and heaven is lucky to have him.
