He was president of the New England Society of Oral Surgeons and a delegate to the Association of Dental Schools. He was former chair of the Hospital Inspection Committee of the Vermont State Dental Society. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Vermont Cancer Society and was a consultant in forensic odontology, representing Vermont, on the Association of Dental Consultants. Just found the obituary for your father on my computer and wanted to let you know he did surgery on me in 1965 and due to his work I'm still alive in Hawaii where I have lived for 45 years. I was 19 years old and a student at UVM at the time. I had no insurnace and he gave me a special rate that I was able to pay. I'll never forget him and I have lived over 50 years since the surgery.
Blessings to you all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Farnham family. It wasn't hard to conclude that the best year of my 30+ years in dentistry was with JACK in the residency program. He was an inspiring mentor truly dedicated to his patients and students and leaves a legacy equal to none.A few fond memories...morning rounds, highlights for the day, roll up your sleeves, hockey stick incisions, all nighters in ER, 80 mph trips in the Honda from Fletcher to Fanny Allen, island get-away, "heads" in the cooler at Yankee Dental, and of course, Willie Nelson! For everything you did for me Jack, I am most grateful. Rest in peace knowing your legacy will live on in all the lives you touched.

I worked for Dr. Farnham from 1994 to 1996 as an assistant. He, to date, is my favorite employer. I loved that job and it was because of him I have fond memories as a surgical assistant. His smile and energy always put a smile on my face and I have shared many "remember when Dr Farnham...." memories with a dear close friend and co-worker. I'm sad for your families loss, but am greatful to have been apart of his life.

Pat, Jonathan, Joe, Dan, and Matt

Your husband and father was "Larger than Life" Thanks for sharing him with his dental "family". He trained hundreds of men and women to not just be better dentists and specialists but better human beings. On behalf of all former residents, I salute the Chief for his wonderful wisdom and sense of humor. I am a better clinician and person because of Dr. Farnham. One thing that Dr. Farnham always said to me was "The sun never sets on Farnham's debts". Well, the sun has set. All of your debts have been paid in full many times over Dr. Farnham. I will miss you!

To the Farnhams,

So many of us have fond memories of time spent with your family with your Dad at the helm. Who can forget his strong, caring, fun presence ? I remember "Danny" handing out plastic rings from Dr. Farnham's office to all the girls and time spent on "the island". And always remember thinking that the Farnham boys were so similar to their Dad. He'll live on in you and your own families.

My condolences and best wishes.

No words can express the magnitude of what and who Dr. Farnham was. He touched hundreds of lives and changed the way we all perform dentistry today.
But more important, he taught Doctors, assistants and nurses the importance of how to treat patients, people, how to care for them respectfully, and hear their needs.
He will be missed by so many.. But his life lessons will live forever in the work that we do, and the kindness we show people every day.. The joke of the day, the prank call that got you out of a bad mood.. He knew what living life was about.
We were all fortunate to know him. He believed people could be great, ...he lead by example.
Cheers Chief... Pat, John, Joe Dan, Matt.. Thank you for the time we had with Jack. He was and will always be an amazing mentor and dear friend

Dear Pat and Family--What a loving and kind human being. I will never forget how helpful and kind he always was to Mom; he was always so busy with patients; but, always wanted to hear how Mom was doing. One never left his office that he didn't hear one of Jack's jokes. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and a man with a kind and generous heart to all in need. Jack has left a beautiful legacy to his family and will never be forgotten by my family and all his friend.
