Shawn Weber Obituary

Shawn Weber November 19, 1980 -November 16, 2006 God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered, "Come to Me." Shawn Weber, 25, of Howard, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, after a courageous and lengthy battle from a car accident. Born on Nov. 19, 1980, in Lock Haven, he was the son of Phil and Margaret Weber, of Howard and the late Tammy Savage. Shawn was a 1999 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School and the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology. He was employed by Dunlap Ford and Waite's Body Shop of Bellefonte. During his life, Shawn excelled at making people smile. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and being outdoors. Especially poignant memories are those spent with his best friend and father while hunting, fishing and working on trucks. He will be greatly missed, but his enthusiasm and zest for life will be remembered and continued by those who loved him. Shawn was a true inspiration to those blessed by his presence. In addition to his parents, Shawn is lovingly survived by his grandmother, Betty Weber, of Howard; grandparents, Glenn and Peggy Wagner, of Mackeyville; grandparents, Harold and Jean Nihart, of Mill Hall; his sister and her husband, Stacey and J.R. Probst, of Lock Haven; his sister and her husband, Crystal and Jeff Pierce, of Ohio; his brother and his wife, Justin and Gail Fike, of Danville; and his service dog, Daphne. He is further survived by the many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces, who cherished and adored him. Not forgotten are the doctors, nurses and attendants at Mount Nittany Medical Center, who devoted their life to making Shawn so comfortable and peaceful. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wilson Weber. Visitation and celebration of Shawn's life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home in Howard. His funeral will take place on Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at 10 a.m., at the Howard Christian Church, Walnut Street, Howard, with the Rev. Wes McElravy officiating. Burial will be in Hublersburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christopher Reeve Foundation, 636 Morris Turnpike, Suite 3A, Short Hills, N.J. 07078.

Phil and Margaret,

My husband and I would like to express our sympathy to you during this difficult time. Although we were "new" neighbors to Shawn, he and Daphne always took the time to say hey when we were clearing the lot, and building the home. You are both an inspiration, as is Shawn.

We are sorry for your loss.

Phil & Margaret-
I want to express my deepest sympathy for you and your family. Phil, you are a fine example of how a parent should conduct himself/herself when tragedy occurs. I watched you with Shawn @ HealthSouth and it was a privilege to share a very personal experience with you and your family. To say I know how you feel would discredit the process. I don't. The fact is you are living every parents nightmare. I hope you face the coming days with as much courage and strength as you did when Shawn had his accident. Shawn was an inspiration to both my brother and myself. I had always hoped Michael would have his strength and physical abilites with enough time and rehab and in a way I was jealous (but in a good way). I feel we have lost a member of our extended family. I regret we did not make the services but please know that I (we) are thinking of you everyday and shall conduct our lives in a way to honor Shawn's memory. God Bless.

Phil and Margaret,
I was so saddened to hear of Shawn's passing. I'm SO sorry I did not get down to see you two before you left the hospital. Your dedication as Shawn's parents will always stay with me. He was as lucky to have you as you were him. I'm sorry I could not make it to the services, but I had too many scheduling conflicts with school and work. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Please stop in sometime to see us in "the unit" as we all will think of you often. I'll miss you.

Phil and Margaret,
I met first met Shawn when he would bring Daphne down stairs for a walk around the hospital. Shawn was a special person and when you looked into those eyes you could see just how special he was, to you two and to everyone. I stopped many of times to just say hi and to see how he was doing. He always brought a smile to my face. And I always made sure to ask you Phil, how he was doing when I saw you on my dinner break. I was sadden to read about his passing. I want you all to know you're in my thoughts and prayers, and Shawn will be greatly missed. If ever need any thing, please remember to find us. God bless you all!

As a nurse at MNMC I have taken care of Shawn many times and have come to know and care for both Shawn and his family like they were my own family. Shawn could always make you laugh. He and his dad picked on each other like brothers and was always good for some entertainment. He struggled so hard and so long.Phil and Margaret, you must know now that he is running, jumping and breathing deeper than ever. You helped Shawn and encourage him along the way more than anyone could, however, his body could only do so much. We will deeply miss Shawn. You all, the family, are in my thoughts and my prayers. May God be with you all in your time of need. Phil and Margaret, you know you guys are, and always will be our family in MSICU at MNMC. If you ever need us, you know where to find us!
